Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Security - Rush System for Health, the Director is responsible for all matters of Security Services operations for Rush University Medical Center's (RUMC) Main Campus, Rush Medical Group Clinics (RMG) clinics throughout Chicagoland. This includes all responsibilities for the strategic, fiscal, staffing and personnel, and operational control of the department and resources. Exemplify the Rush mission, vision, Rush Promise. Acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.</p> <p>Primary Customers:</p> <ul> <li>Patients, visitors, students, staff, contractors, and other tenants of RUSH. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee daily security operations at RUMC and various RMG clinics throughout Chicagoland </li><li>Responsible for developing, maintaining, and ensuring regulatory compliance within the realm of security with various entities; including: The Joint Commission, the State of Illinois, Cook County, and the City of Chicago. </li><li>Responsible for regulatory reporting requirements for a higher education security program, to include compliance with the United States Government Department of Education Clery Act reporting. </li><li>Develop, author, publish, and enforce hospital and departmental policies and procedures. </li><li>Develop a yearly Security Management Plan with subsequent yearly review. </li><li>Coordinate 3rd party contract security at various RUMC and RMG off-site facilities. </li><li>Acts as Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) Security Branch Director, Liaison Officer or Incident Commander for RUSH during emergency incidents. </li><li>Develops and conducts RUMC New Employee Welcome, New Student Orientation, and annual training modules. </li><li>Ensure timely recruitment, hiring, and onboarding per policy. </li><li>Ensure department assets/equipment is properly maintained, purchased and replaced. </li><li>Serves as a hearing officer for employee/union grievances. </li><li>Prepared departmental budget and maintain fiscal responsibility. </li><li>Designs, implements, and conducts security educational programs for staff and students. </li><li>Coordinates department training efforts to include the direct training of supervisors and officers. </li><li>Develop strategic security plans for RUMC and RMG clinics. </li></ul> <p>Represents RUMC in matters of security in external/internal committees and organizations as a Chair and/or member.</p> <p>Other information:</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field required. </li><li>Seven (7) or more years of managerial experience in hospital security, law enforcement, or corporate security. </li><li>Must possess/maintain a valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) from the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) after successfully completing a 20-hour security guard training course from an approved provider. </li><li>Must possess/maintain a valid Illinois Firearm's Owner's Identification Card (FOID) as issued by the Illinois State Police. </li><li>Must have successfully completed a 28-hour training course (including revolver) from a State of Illinois approved provider within two (2) years of the Firearms Control Card (FCC) application, or the applicant must show proof on the FCC application of requalification within the last year at the time of application. </li><li>Must be eligible to obtain/maintain an Illinois FCC within 90 days of employment (including revolver certification). </li><li>Must maintain a satisfactory firearms requalification score as mandated by the IDFPR. </li><li>Valid Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin driver's license required with a prior driving record deemed acceptable to Human Resources pursuant to a driver's history check. </li><li>Must possess or obtain FEMA Incident Command 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications within 6 months of employment. </li><li>Must possess or obtain International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification at the "Basic" and "Supervisory" levels within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communications skills and customer service. </li><li>Basic computer skills are essential. </li><li>Ability to handle confidential matters. </li><li>Ability to exercise independent judgment; excellent customer service skills. </li><li>Ability to work various shifts; including nights/weekends as assignments dictate. </li><li>Ability to prioritize workload. </li><li>Strong knowledge of physical security; including access control and video surveillance systems. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Job Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field. </li><li>Ten (10) or more years of managerial experience in hospital security, law enforcement, or corporate security. </li><li>Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certified. Physical Demands: </li><li>Able to tolerate prolonged walking/standing/sitting for the duration of shift. </li><li>Able to perform required responsibilities. </li><li>Able to successfully demonstrate the retention, use and maintenance of issued equipment. </li><li>Able to lift at minimum 50 pounds to waist height. </li><li>Able to wear all issued equipment including ballistic vest, firearm, and duty belt. </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer:</p> <p>The above is intended to describe the general content and requirements for this job.
