<p>Duties: Skilled manual, administrative and supervisory work relating to the care and maintenance of the Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School's farm operations, land utilization, systems, equipment and all other farm-related work as required. The Farm Director is on call seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day to respond to all farm-related issues.</p> <p>Primary/essential functions: ?Responsible for all aspects of the operations and care of the SVAHS farm and related equipment. ?Develop, recommend and manage a farm operations budget in collaboration with the School Business Administrator. ?Responsible for the care and maintenance of all equipment relating to the farm including machinery, tools, etc. ?Responsible for the maintenance of necessary records including contracts, financial accounts, budgets, purchases, federal, state, and local reports related to the farm. ?Responsible for the maintenance and coordination of necessary records including animal care records, veterinary care and other record keeping related to the farm. ?Responsible for the purchasing and selling of animals and organizing the rotation of livestock, etc. ?Collaborate with the Animal Science, Horticulture, & Agricultural Mechanics Department Heads to ensure proper communication around instructional needs and uses of the animals and all other farm resources. ?Ensure the school's farm enterprises are consistent with the educational needs of the agricultural education programs and their students. ?Participate in the school's Animal Science Advisory Committee based upon Massachusetts Department of Education Chapter 74 Guidelines. ?Responsible for the inventory of all of the school's land and keep track of all activity related to the utilization of the land. ?Collaborate with the School Business Administrator to prepare bid packages as needed for farm projects, assist with evaluating bid results and formulating recommendations for approval. ?Have a knowledge of all farm infrastructure. ?Responsible for managing, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating all farm staff. ?Manage all farm facility use requests from outside agencies, groups, and vendors. ?Responsible for all farm activities on weekends and holidays. ?Participate in the City of Northampton Ag Commission. ?Attend and present at Board of Trustees Meetings as directed by the School Business Administrator. ?Performs other duties as assigned by the School Business Administrator.</p> <p>Other Functions ?Work collaboratively with other administrators maintaining the mission of the school and maintaining progress in reaching the School Improvement Plan Goals. ?Maintain best practices through professional networking and professional development opportunities.</p>
