<p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Plans, directs, and evaluates all medical services within the correctional institution. </li><li>Establishes, implements, and evaluates medical programs. </li><li>Reviews and updates current programs. </li><li>Develops, administers, and enforces policy and procedures. </li><li>Develops and implements institutional nursing policy and procedure manual. </li><li>Prepares nursing budget with input from medical staff. </li><li>Serves as nursing liaison with other units in institution to ensure services are coordinated. </li><li>Directs public relations activities. </li><li>Directs and manages use and maintenance of inmate electronic health care records. </li><li>Coordinates nursing services with other patient services. </li><li>Conducts and/or attends health care meetings. </li><li>Provides leadership for quality assurance functions (ex. ACA audit standards). </li><li>Submits and/or approves requisitions for medical supplies and/or equipment. </li><li>Works with advanced level providers to assure adequate medical care for inmates. </li><li>Documents and/or reviews in the electronic heath record documentation. </li><li>Supervises permanent employees and agency/contract medical staff (e.g., RN's, LPN's, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, medical records & dental) </li><li>Approves/disapproves leave requests and completes and signs performance evaluations and handles disciplinary problems. </li><li>Schedules work assignments and reviews and evaluates completed work. </li><li>Recruits, interviews, and recommends applicants for hire, trains, and orients new employees and agency staff. </li><li>Develops and provides medical staff training and education. </li><li>Serves on institution committees </li><li>Investigates and responds to inquiries about healthcare concerns raised by inmates, families, and other interested parties </li><li>Monitors healthcare services compliance with state and federal regulations, standards and court orders and report findings. </li><li>Provides direct professional nursing care to inmates </li><li>Administers emergency care and first aid to inmates and staff. </li><li>Assesses inmate patients and administers medications during absence of nursing staff or as needed. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Requires current licensure as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code; 24 mos. exp. as registered nurse; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in counseling; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in interviewing; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in public relations; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 6 courses or 18 mos. exp. in management.</p> <ul> <li>Or 6 mos. exp. as Nurse 2, 65513. </li><li>Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure. </li></ul> <p>Job Skills: Nursing, Customer Service, Medical, Management, Health Administration, Conflict Management, Decision Making, Delegation, Leading Others, Strategic Thinking</p>
