Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.</p> <p>About this job:</p> <p>Leads the successful development and implementation of mathematics standards, curriculum and instruction across grades K-12 aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards and Common Core State Standards, setting a vision for equitable and linguistically responsive mathematics instruction. Provides support to ensure successful integration of district-wide initiatives at the school level. Builds a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and learning that drives high levels of math for all students. Broadly responsible for leading a curriculum and instruction function for the District in a content area(s): Science, Math, Humanities, Literacy, Arts, Physical Education, and/or other areas of focus.</p> <p>The Director must demonstrate a willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement. This role requires maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding all District matters, especially those involving the Superintendent, Chief of Staff, and the Board of Education. Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. </li><li>In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Creates the district K-12 mathematics comprehensive vision and strategic plan for content area curriculum in collaboration with (and not limited to) schools, the Schools team, multilingual education, exceptional student services the assessment team, and other department teams </li><li>Develops systems for progress monitoring and refining the strategic plan with student data and school observation data. </li><li>Manages district-supported "opt-in" curriculum and instructional programs in grades K-12 and coordinates the adoption, budgeting and evaluation of all related, district adopted and supported instructional materials </li><li>Develops the capacity of the District to provide exemplary customer service and professional learning opportunities to schools on equitable and linguistically responsive instruction, curriculum and assessment. </li><li>Collaboratively implements related assessment strategy; provides professional learning to district coaches and directors of schools on related assessments; develops analysis of district assessments and uses the data to inform school support </li><li>Develops a strong team culture grounded in district values and a commitment to excellence and service to schools </li><li>In collaboration with the multilingual education team, develops professional learning opportunities for teachers and leaders on best practices for supporting the achievement of multilingual learners and Spanish literacy </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree - Education, Mathematics, Science and/or STEM, Literacy, Social Sciences and/or Humanities - Required </li><li>Master's Degree - Education, Mathematics,Science and/or STEM, Literacy, Social Sciences and/or Humanities - Preferred </li><li>Five (5+) plus years of experience in instructional/educational leadership or curriculum and instruction - Required </li><li>Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations </li><li>Experience in analyzing data, and using this data to for process and program improvements and to inform strategy </li><li>Outstanding facilitation and communication skills, including ability to inspire others </li><li>Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team </li><li>Superior leadership, coaching and mentoring skills </li><li>Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work with individuals at all different levels in the organization </li><li>Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner </li><li>Strategic planning and organizational development knowledge and skills </li><li>Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals, establish priorities, and organize resources </li><li>Ability to motivate and influence others </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
