<p>Reports To: School Business Administrator Work Year: 12 months per year Evaluation: Annual evaluation conducted by the School Business Administrator in accordance with district policies Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 General Purpose The Assistant School Business Administrator supports the School Business Administrator in all district-wide business operations, including accounting, payroll, purchasing, budget development, financial reporting, grant management, and audit support. This position requires strong technical skills, financial acumen, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to supporting staff and departments across Franklin Public Schools. Qualifications Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. </li><li>Interest in obtaining the School Business Administrator DESE License. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of three years of experience in accounting, financial management, payroll, or office support. </li><li>Prior experience in municipal, governmental, or fund accounting preferred. </li><li>Experience with financial management systems; familiarity with Munis preferred. </li><li>School or district finance experience preferred. </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Google Workspace. </li></ul> <p>Professional Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong customer service and professional communication skills. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. </li><li>Critical thinking and strategic problem-solving abilities. </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. </li><li>Flexibility and willingness to assume additional responsibilities as needed. </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements and data. </li><li>Demonstrated accuracy in compiling, tracking, reconciling, and auditing financial information. </li><li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial management systems such as Munis is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Core Responsibilities Budgeting & Financial Management</p> <ul> <li>Assist with the development, preparation, and monitoring of the annual operating and revolving budgets. </li><li>Prepare financial schedules, supporting analyses, and expenditure projections for departments and district-wide use. </li><li>Ensure expenditures are accurately coded in accordance with GAAP; prepare journal entries as needed. </li><li>Assist the School Business Administrator in developing financial models related to collective bargaining and other strategic initiatives. </li><li>Assist with grant budgeting, reporting, compliance, and reconciliation. </li><li>Support the School Business Administrator with end-of-year reporting (EOYR). </li><li>Participate in quarterly and year-end financial close processes. </li><li>Prepare financial reports and analyses to support administrative and School Committee decision-making. </li></ul> <p>Financial Reporting & Audit Support</p> <ul> <li>Prepare accounting and journal entries, including payroll accruals and end-of-year adjustments. </li><li>Reconcile grants, general ledger accounts, and financial statements. </li><li>Support annual audits and prepare documentation and reports as requested. </li><li>Assist with internal and external financial reporting requirements. </li><li>Collect and analyze financial data to support collective bargaining negotiations and cost projections. </li></ul> <p>Departmental Support & Special Projects</p> <ul> <li>Provide day-to-day supervision and support to Accounts Payable and Finance Specialist staff. </li><li>Ensure compliance with internal purchasing, accounts payable, and financial procedures. </li><li>Review and reconcile purchase orders; assist school and department staff with requisitions. </li><li>Reconcile payroll and payroll-related accounts as needed. </li><li>Post weekly deposits, turnovers, and other financial transactions; reconcile accounts regularly. </li><li>Maintain accurate records for tuition, student activity accounts, course reimbursements, non-budgeted donations, and scholarships. </li><li>Provide financial training to district administrators and staff, and cross-training within the business office. </li><li>Serve as backup to the School Business Administrator and Finance Specialist as needed. </li><li>Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned by the School Business Administrator or Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>Commitment to Diversity Franklin Public Schools is committed to fostering a workplace where diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences are valued.
