<p>Position Title: Rover (School Engineer Replacement)</p> <p>Salary Range: Regionally Competitive</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Immediate Supervisor: Director Buildings and Grounds</p> <p>Job Summary: The replacement engineer will on temporary assignment replace absent building engineers/head custodians and custodians on either the day or night shift as assigned. The replacement engineer is responsible for the operation, servicing, and general maintenance of the school HVAC Systems, swimming pool equipment and facilities, and the general maintenance of the school grounds of the school. Included in the mechanical operation of the building is the operation of the Energy Management System.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Performs each of the duties of the engineer or custodian being replaced on a daily basis. </li><li>As an engineer performs repairs as required by the facility's heating/cooling and swimming facilities. In addition, will request the Supervisor of Maintenance the appropriate assistance in correcting functional problems with the facilities mechanical equipment. </li><li>As a head custodian assures the timely cleaning of the building and communicates any building safety/cleaning or security needs to the Principal. </li><li>Daily assignments will be made either by phone or upon arrival at the Service Building. </li><li>Will be available for emergency call out for security and mechanical alarms on an as needed basis. </li><li>Will assist in the training of engineers and custodians. </li><li>Will perform or assign other duties not specifically enumerated that are necessary for the general upkeep of building facilities and grounds. </li><li>The replacement engineer will also assist in the training of engineers and custodians. </li><li>Repairing custodial equipment. </li><li>Overseeing custodial supply inventories and multiple locations. </li><li>Answer 24 hour emergency calls from First Responders or District personnel. </li><li>Provide on-site support for athletic events and internal or external building rentals, including evenings and weekends as needed, to ensure facilities are properly opened, maintained, and secured before, during, and after events. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <ul> <li>Perform general cleaning and repair work, particularly during school vacations. </li><li>Assist parents and other visitors with special events and programs. </li><li>Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Equipment</p> <ul> <li>Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mowers, and hand tools. </li></ul> <p>Safety Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment. </li><li>Wear appropriate safety gear, including masks. </li><li>Comply with the school district's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets. </li></ul> <p>Travel Requirements: Occasional travel between schools or between schools and the central office may be required.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Required Experience or Training: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with at least two years of experience in building maintenance. The candidate should possess basic computer skills, be able to lift up to 60 pounds, and hold a valid operator's license. </li><li>Desired Experience or Training: Includes any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for successful performance in the role. This may involve formal education, on-the-job training, or prior experience in a similar position, ensuring the candidate has the abilities needed to meet the job's responsibilities effectively. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Mental Demands: Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, prioritize tasks, and respond to facility-related issues in a timely and effective manner. Requires the ability to maintain awareness of safety protocols, use sound judgment when operating equipment or handling cleaning agents, and adapt to changing schedules or emergencies. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential. </li><li>Physical Demands: Must be able to work in confined spaces, on ladders, rooftops, and in various indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to lift 60 pounds without assistance and safely handle tools and equipment for extended periods. </li><li>Environmental Conditions: Work is primarily performed indoors with routine exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and bodily fluids. Custodians may occasionally work outdoors in varying weather conditions to maintain building entrances, walkways, and grounds. The position involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating cleaning equipment for extended periods. Must be available for assigned shifts, including evenings or weekends, and respond to emergencies as needed. Must be able to handle stress. </li></ul>
