<p>Title:</p> <p>Seasonal Worker Horticulturist</p> <p>Reports To:</p> <p>Manager of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Seasonal Worker Horticulturist, under direct supervision of gardeners, assistant foreman and foremen, will be working in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory in the maintenance of special exhibitions, glasshouse collections, and seasonal displays. The Temporary Horticulturist will assist with garden work and general maintenance as required, such as planting, grooming, weeding, mulching, watering and other related tasks. The Temporary Horticulturist will use garden tools and operate machinery necessary for the performance of these duties including pruners, rakes, blowers, shovels, etc.</p> <p>Specific Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assists with the planting, watering, fertilizing, and grooming of plants. </li><li>Assists with the pruning of trees and shrubs, as necessary. </li><li>Assist with moving plant material and garden supplies from one site to another to facilitate proper care of plants. </li><li>Assists with spreading mulch and applying compost and other materials. </li><li>Assists with weeding of planting beds and other landscape areas. </li><li>Operate small machinery when necessary to perform specific tasks. </li><li>Other related work, as required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Graduate or GED. </li><li>The ability to follow instructions and work as a team. </li><li>Valid Driver's license required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demand & Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, work outdoors and underglass in all weather conditions in all seasons, stand, sit, crouch, kneel, and walk, operate lifts and other machinery, climb ladders, use hand tools and power equipment, and lift andlor move up to 50 pounds.
