<p>Chatham County Government has an entry-level opening for a Production and Distribution Clerk. If you have a High School Diploma or GED and strong clerical skills, this could be your opportunity to join our team.</p> <ul> <li>Process incoming mail and stamp the date of receipt of items received in the mailroom.  </li><li>Sort mail for distribution and deliver interoffice mail to County departments, transport mail to satellite facilities, and process outgoing mail for delivery to the post office.  </li><li>Weigh outgoing mail to determine correct postage, seal envelopes by hand or with a postage machine, and imprint date and postage using a postage machine and meter.  </li><li>Calculate postage rates and additional fees such as registered mail, insured mail, returned receipt requests, priority mail, express mail, and other fees.  </li><li>Process packages for shipping and inspect packages for appropriate labeling/addressing, weigh and measure packages, and deliver them to shipping companies/representatives.  </li><li>Respond to questions/complaints, research problems, and initiate problem resolution by telephone and in person using communication and customer service skills.  </li><li>Collect data pertaining to postage usage and prepare monthly reports, and clear account balances for the following month.  </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>Must be able to lift or carry up to 20 pounds.  </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.  </li><li>Selected candidates will be required to complete clerical testing during the interview process.   </li></ul>
