<p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>This role is an excellent opportunity for pre-rehabilitative professionals to gain hands-on experience with patients and understanding of the day-to-day operations in a subacute rehab department in a skilled nursing facility by providing daily clinic organization, equipment restocking, and hands-on interaction with residents by carrying out prescribed exercise programs determined by treating therapists of the department. Work side by side with the therapy team to enhance mobility and self-care function while learning about practitioner realities in healthcare.</p> <p>This position reports to the respective Rehabilitation Supervisor on each campus.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES: (not intended to be an all inclusive list)</p> <ul> <li>Tidies gym spaces, manages equipment cleaning and storage. </li><li>Carries out specific, prescribed exercise programs with skilled nursing facility short- and long-term residents. </li><li>Participates in care planning meetings and other treatments as additional assists when indicated by therapy plans of care. </li><li>Assists with properly fitting new admits with durable medical equipment prior to their admission. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>This internship is open to current Undergraduate or Graduate students. </li><li>Studying Physical or Occupational Therapy, or related field preferred. </li><li>Coursework in kinesiology, biomechanics, psychology, and anatomy/physiology beneficial. </li><li>Driven, curious, and self-motivated to learn and stretch self in subacute environment. </li><li>Excellent communication skills, written and verbal with ability to adjust approach according to current audience. </li></ul> <p>This internship will last from 8-12 weeks, depending on the availability of intern. There is a possibility that the internship could continue into the fall on a part-time basis, depending on availability of the intern.</p>
