<p>Purpose and Scope</p> <p>SUMMARY DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Performs entry-level technical work in the removal or containment of asbestos-containing materials in District buildings. The position is responsible for assisting with facility inspections to detect asbestos, performing specialized work in asbestos containment or removal and/or working with contractors as assigned, assisting with materials disposal in accordance with regulations, and performing related work as required. The position works under direct supervision according to set procedures.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <p>This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements.</p> <p>Assists in conducting site inspections and investigations to detect asbestos-containing materials as assigned, and reports findings to supervisor. Performs or assists in performing specialized work in the removal and/or containment of asbestos-containing materials in flooring, walls, ceilings, duct work and other locations; disposes of removed materials in a manner consistent with state and federal regulations. Assists contractors to help ensure all work is in accordance with plans, specifications and regulations. Performs work related to installation of carpet, tile and other flooring material. Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility. Performs related facility maintenance work as assigned. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete work records. Attends meetings, training and workshops as necessary to enhance job knowledge and skills. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Requires a High School diploma or GED plus an additional 2 years related experience, or equivalent for a total education and experience of 2 years.</p> <p>Degree Equivalency Formula:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.</p> <p>Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.</p>
