No Work Schedule</p> <p>Monday - Friday</p> <p>Sensitive Position No Job Description</p> <p>New River Community College is a two-year state institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is in Virginia's New River Valley, which is also home to two public universities, and which has earned widespread recognition for the quality of life offered to residents. The Dublin campus and Christiansburg site provide modern, well-equipped facilities for the college's career and technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.</p> <p>The people employed by New River Community College embrace the philosophy that all individuals should have an opportunity to develop and extend their skills and knowledge to increase awareness of their roles and duties as citizens. Responsibilities include academic skills assessment, contextualized lesson planning, and GED/Workforce Readiness classroom instruction; and assisting students in developing career pathways that accelerate the educational and career advancement of the individual.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist students from the point of inquiry to credential completion. </li><li>Help students prepare and study for the GED exam. </li><li>Assist students with barriers that may affect GED success/retention. </li><li>Ensure that all necessary documents and forms are completed accurately and promptly. </li><li>Attend all required department meetings and training sessions. </li><li>Utilize technology and other resources to assist with class facilitation. </li><li>Work collaboratively with college staff in support of student success. </li></ul> <p>Special Assignments</p> <p>May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
