Category Marketing Close Date Description</p> <p>Marketing, Education & Engagement Specialist</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>The Education & Engagement Specialist works to further the mission of Honest Weight Food Co-op (HWFC) and commitment to our statements of conscience through consumer education and engagement both internally and out in the community. Principal responsibility relates to the positions role within the Mission-Based Team, with primary focus to develop, coordinate, and promote education and services and to support mission-based programming and initiatives all while working to grow the co-ops reach through community action. Plays a key role in the marketing department, ensuring uniform brand identity and a commitment to the co-ops mission in all marketing materials.</p> <p>Status:</p> <p>Full time, 40 hours per week, $25.00/hour</p> <p>Flexible schedule required, including some split shifts, evenings and weekends</p> <p>Supervisor:</p> <p>Marketing Manager</p> <p>Organizational Location:</p> <p>The Education & Engagement Specialist belongs to the Marketing Department and to the Mission-Based Team which also includes the Membership Manager, the Community Relations Specialist, and Marketing Director. The Mission-Based Team and Marketing Team together comprise the Identity Team.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>Educational Programing and Events</p> <ul> <li>The primary responsibility of this role is to develop, coordinate and promote a robust schedule of ongoing programs, classes, and services to reach and educate targeted audiences on sustainability, wellness, and good food, in alignment with HWFCs mission and the cooperative principles. </li><li>Educational programming should reflect the interests and priorities of the diverse communities the co-op serves, with a specific focus on alignment with the West Hill/West End Neighborhood demographics </li><li>Recruit primarily from among Member-Owners and Staff to inform content of classes and services and to participate as instructors and practitioners. Non-member instructors may be recruited as a secondary source if Member-Owners and Staff are unavailable. </li><li>Create, purchase, and maintain all program materials, marketing efforts, equipment and supplies for classes and services. </li><li>Coordinate store tours and educational activities in support of community-wide initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Marketing Team Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Support the marketing team in writing and preparing ad copy for print and digital media </li><li>Assist the Marketing Director in the updating of the website to reflect news, events, and relevant information supporting store operations, community action, education, and governance. </li><li>Support the marketing team in monitoring online reviews, images, and correspondence with the public on platforms like Google, Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, etc. </li><li>Work with the marketing director and the design team to ensure uniform brand identity in all communications generated by HWFC. </li></ul> <p>Ongoing Consumer Education</p> <ul> <li>Provide current content and data for brochures, store signage, and other print and digital educational materials. Work with Director of Marketing and marketing team to ensure that all publications conform to evolving HWFC branding standards. Coordinate production and reordering of materials as needed. </li><li>Support the marketing department in developing and implementing educational aspects of marketing campaigns relevant to promoting Honest Weights mission, products, and services. </li><li>Guide/create and maintain materials and programs for new members and shoppers such as How to Shop the Co-op, Introduction to Buying in Bulk and ongoing education about the uniqueness and benefits of HWFC and the cooperative model. </li><li>Collaborate with all members of the Identity Team to develop educational materials including recipes, cooking instructions and Did You Know? style content. </li><li>Identify educational needs in collaboration with Community Relations and Member Services, management, the Identity Team and committees. Continue to identify a need for, conceptualize, and manage educational campaigns as needed. </li><li>Identify, explore, and implement on-brand digital educational resources including but not limited to Webinars, Facebook/Instagram Lives </li><li>Work with the Identity Team to develop quarterly themes for the Coop Scoop and content in coordination with membership initiatives, store promotions, shopper lifestyles and key calendar events as needed to produce a magazine that educates, inspires, and sells HWFC (values, items, services, etc.) </li><li>Supervise the member-owner Coop Scoop team </li></ul> <p>Coordinate the Brand Ambassador Program</p> <ul> <li>Create and execute programs in conjunction with the marketing department to bring key demographics of new customers into the co-op through education and community action efforts </li><li>Take our brand to the streets, working with local businesses, colleges, and other community partners to show the co-op off in the community, with the goal of increasing HWFC brand awareness </li><li>Recruit, train and supervise HWFC brand ambassadors, including but not limited to member-owners, educators, campus ambassadors, social media influencers. </li><li>Research relevant trends and products to promote through the brand ambassador program </li></ul> <p>Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion</p> <ul> <li>Develop Education and Engagement programming at HWFC that reflects the interests and priorities of the diverse communities the co-op serves, with a specific focus on alignment with the West Hill/West End Neighborhood demographics </li><li>Identify and establish programs, classes and initiatives that will increase BIPOC representation at HWFC. </li><li>Create and promote diversity-oriented events, minority and protected class inclusion programs, and cross-cultural workshops. </li><li>Actively pursue an Anti-Racist agenda in your work, and work collaboratively across the Mission-Based Team to ensure that principles of Anti-Racism are actively applied. </li><li>Amplify BIPOC voices through all HWFC platforms; specifically through brand ambassadorships and digital/social media influence. </li><li>Attend trainings and consult with peers to stay apprised to the most current trends and information in the DEI and Anti-Racism spheres, ensuring that the co-op remains on the cutting edge; particularly as it relates to copywriting and program development. </li></ul> <p>Other</p> <ul> <li>Along with other personnel (Board Admin, HR, MOC), maintain room reservations and all calendars for Community Room, Teaching Kitchen and the conference room </li><li>Assist in the preparation of the education budget </li><li>Monitor the education budget expenditures </li><li>Support planning and execution of department and store-wide events as needed </li><li>Write occasional articles for Honest Slate, HWFCs membership newsletter </li><li>Other responsibilities as assigned </li></ul> <p>Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Open Date 12/11/2025 Position Marketing, Education & Engagement Specialist Position Requirements</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Flexibility in scheduling, including split shifts and frequent weekends. </li><li>Can provide writing samples via portfolio or online </li><li>Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and succeed in a deadline driven environment. </li><li>Outgoing personality, great with people, and a strong command of the English language and grammar with excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work both independently and cooperatively and provide excellent customer service </li><li>Knowledge of basic marketing, design, and communication principles a plus. </li><li>Experience working with local not-for-profits and food justice organizations a plus. </li><li>Experience and/or passion and interest for the cooperative business model </li><li>Experience and/or passion and interest in natural & organic food trends and healthy & sustainable living </li><li>Must be able to consistently and safely lift & carry up to 30 lbs. Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. </li></ul> <p>Shift Various Shifts</p>
