<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by supporting the head coach in the overall administration of the Women' Ice Hockey Program.</p> <p>This is a 40 hour per week and 43 weeks per year .833 FTE position.</p> <p>Salary: $45,000/year or more depending on experience.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assists the head coach in the organization and implementation of practice plans and game management. </li><li>Assists the head coach with scouting of opponents and film breakdown. </li><li>Assists the head coach in the scheduling of all travel and lodging arrangement for the program. </li><li>Assists in the academic monitoring of student athletes during each academic year. </li><li>Assists in scheduling league and non-league athletic contests and scrimmages. </li><li>Assists the head coach in decisions regarding budget management for the program. </li><li>Assists the head coach and the equipment manager with the selection and purchase of apparel and equipment. </li><li>Assists the head coach and the athletic training staff in monitoring the injuries of student athletes. </li><li>Assists in the organization and administration of fundraising activities in conjunction with the Director of the Maroon and Gold Athletic Association and the Blue Line Club and their Board of Directors. </li><li>Under the direction of the head coach, oversees the hockey program's social media accounts. </li><li>Assists in the completion of Travel forms, End of Season Reports, Preseason and in-season Squad Lists and Travel Expense Reports. </li><li>Assists the head coach in recruitment of qualified student athletes (approximately one quarter of the roster each year). </li><li>Assists the head coach in contacting and entering recruiting information into the Slate recruiting database, in coordination with Admissions. </li><li>Contributes to a positive team experience that encourages player retention. </li><li>Attends University Open Houses as required by Director of Athletics. </li><li>Develops and nurtures alumni and community relations. </li></ul> <p>Other Functions</p> <ul> <li>Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information. </li><li>Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner. </li><li>Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned. </li><li>Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software. </li><li>Speaks, reads, and writes in English. </li><li>Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device. </li><li>Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree in a related field is preferred </li><li>At least 2 years of relevant experience in women's ice hockey coaching is preferred </li><li>Collegiate ice hockey playing experience is preferred </li><li>Experience in a collegiate environment is preferred </li><li>Knowledge of all NCAA rules and regulations </li><li>Experience speaking with small and large groups </li><li>Experience with fundraising activities </li><li>Certification in AED, CPR and First Aid and Mental Health First Aid required or attained through the University upon employment </li><li>Annual successful completion of the NCAA Rules Test is required </li><li>Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook) </li><li>Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 50 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus </li><li>Frequent evening and weekend hours when in season </li><li>Travel as needed </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Work indoors both in the office and hockey arena and outdoors in all weather conditions. </li><li>Frequent computer use at workstation. </li><li>High level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Norwich University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing a positive education and work environment that recognizes and respects the dignity of all students, faculty and staff.
