<p>Description</p> <p>Under general supervision, plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of several large groups of workers engaged in repairing, servicing, and maintaining automotive, construction, and other special purpose vehicles and equipment; determines and evaluates divisional needs and makes recommendations regarding methods of operation and purchase of equipment.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ol> <li> <p>Develops operating and maintenance policies, practices, and standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Issues instructions to subordinate supervisors in maintenance procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews work progress of subordinates.</p> </li><li> <p>Inspects work in progress and upon completion.</p> </li><li> <p>Determines work priorities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures that necessary materials for repairs are obtained.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews requisitions prepared by subordinates for materials and supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes materials and labor requirements for maintenance projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares cost estimates.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates and reports on performance of workers, equipment, and materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Initiates or reviews disciplinary measures.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets with representatives of labor organizations.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains records of maintenance activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in preparing divisional budget requests.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews records of division activities to determine the need for new or additional mechanical equipment and/or vehicles.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the preparation of specifications for the purchase of new equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets with equipment vendors and arranges for demonstrations of new devices, materials, and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of new vehicles and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees and reviews the assignment of equipment and operators to construction and maintenance sites.</p> </li></ol> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>High school graduation or G.E.D.
