If you leave your computer and return later, you may time out.</p> <p>REMINDER: Current DCSD employees must apply through their district log-on, this application is for external candidates only!</p> <p>Job Posting Title:</p> <p>Educational Assistant IV - Vision</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The educational assistant for the program of the visually impaired is primarily responsible for modifying materials to enhance instruction as requested by the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and working directly with students with visual impairments including blindness.</p> <p>Must have a strong interest in learning braille and becoming certified either by the state of CO or the National Federation for the Blind within 3 years of employment.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Occasional lifting of forty (40) to seventy (70) pounds </li><li>Frequent bending, standing, sitting, walking </li><li>Occasional reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, or standing </li><li>Ability to run short distances </li></ul> <p>Position Specific Information (if Applicable):</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>-- Help ensure the safety of students with visual impairments. </li><li>-- Assist with instruction of students under the direction of a certified teacher in a classroom setting, one-on-one, or in small groups. </li><li>-- Maintains and organizes the vision departments library of student tactile and large print books. </li><li>-- Participation in professional development opportunities to advance skills. </li><li>-- Effective working relationship with students, teachers, and other district staff. </li><li>-- Perform other related duties as assigned or as needed. </li><li>-- Prepare adapted material in a timely fashion as needed by students with visual impairments including blindness and Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments. </li><li>-- Preparation of on-site materials. </li><li>-- Ability to explain information presented in a variety of ways. </li><li>-- Ability to adapt ideas and concepts to clarify student understandings. </li><li>-- Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned. </li><li>-- Flexibility to work independently and collaborate as a team member. </li></ul> <p>Certifications:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>High School or Equivalent (Required)</p> <p>Skills:</p> <p>Computer, Has the ability to effectively communicate with the school and school District community as well as the public at large., Has the ability to meet attendance standards and work hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job., Has the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision., Has the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions., Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers., Is flexible., Maintains a generally positive attitude., Observes all District policies and procedures., Willing to travel to various schools in the district.</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Primary Location:</p> <p>Variable Location Employee - SPED</p> <p>One Year Only (Yes or No):</p> <p>No</p> <p>Scheduled Hours Per Week:</p> <p>37.5</p> <p>FTE:</p> <p>0.94</p> <p>Approx Scheduled Days Per Year:</p> <p>180 Work Days</p> <ul> <li>(260 days indicates a year-round position. Any exceptions to the normal off-track time will be noted in the Additional Position Details section above, as scheduled work days.) </li></ul> <p>Minimum Hire Rate:</p> <p>$19.84 USD Hourly</p> <p>Maximum Hire Rate:</p> <p>$25.20 USD Hourly</p> <p>Full Salary Range:</p> <p>$19.84 USD - $30.55 USD Hourly</p> <ul> <li>All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE.
