We encourage you to apply and become a valued member of our vibrant campus community today!</p> <p>At the University of Wyoming, we are committed to creating a supportive and enriching workplace.</p> <p>JOB TITLE:</p> <p>Assistant Research / Lab Tech: Camera Trap Analysis</p> <p>DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:</p> <p>Zoology & Physiology</p> <p>Job location: UW Main or UW Casper</p> <p>Pay rate or range: $12/hr</p> <p>JOB PURPOSE:</p> <p>The purpose of this project is to evaluate pronghorn fawn behavior after being fitted with expandable GPS collars in a captive environment using camera trap technology. Specifically, Wyoming Game and Fish are interested in the following questions: (1) Do GPS collars fit for larger ungulate species impede the natural behaviors of pronghorn fawns (i.e., minimize duration of movement, increased stress, etc.)? (2)Do GPS collars intended for neonate ungulates expand appropriately on growing pronghorn fawns? This work will provide much-needed information on how expandable GPS collars, a common survey technology for ungulates, may influence pronghorn fawn behavior and survival.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The primary duties of the student will be to review game camera footage to quantify pronghorn fawn behaviors with the goal to help inform an AI model to work through 30,000 video images. The student will gain expertise in game camera analysis, work directly with WGFD, collaborate with a newly hired research scientist.</p> <p>SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>The student will: (1) review game camera footage of pronghorn fawns using either an access database OR timelapse software. (2) test results against an AI model. (3) run all photos/videos through the AI model as time allows.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Understanding of Microsoft Excel / Word, ability to learn various computer programs for analysis of data (Microsoft Access / Timelapse), ability to follow directions and work independently or in a group setting.</p> <p>Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.</p> <p>EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPLICABLE TO CAREERS IN THE FOLLOWING DEGREES:</p> <p>Zoology, Wildlife, Botany, Biology, Ecosystem Science and Management, Natural Resources</p> <p>REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:</p> <p>Complete the online application.
