<p>Job Title: Chemical Technician</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated Chemical Technician to join our Compliance and Support team at a plant in Wilsonville. This role primarily involves supporting operations and environmental aspects within a power plant, with a focus on unit-specific tests and silica testing. As you gain experience, you will also maintain two water treatment plants. This position is integral to ensuring the proper operation of the plant's facilities, which include the power plant, water treatment plant, and sewage treatment plant.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Perform technical and analytical services essential to the proper operation of a power-generating plant. </li><li>Operate and maintain a water treatment plant to ensure consistent demineralized water production. </li><li>Manage boiler water chemistry to support water/steam cycle operations. </li><li>Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment to ensure discharge compliance. </li><li>Conduct water sampling and analysis for pH, conductivity, sodium, silica, and various other parameters. </li><li>Calibrate and maintain continuous instrumentation. </li><li>Manage various chemical feed systems for optimal operation. </li><li>Log data, analyze, and respond to critical plant operations. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills:</p> <ul> <li>BS degree in Chemistry or another field of science with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry. </li><li>2+ years of industrial lab experience. </li><li>Knowledgeable about water treatment processes, pH reading and monitoring, and environmental testing. </li><li>Experience and competency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. </li><li>Familiarity with water analysis, pH, conductivity, and simple calibrations. </li><li>Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems. </li><li>Broad knowledge of analytical, inorganic, environmental, and water chemistries. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. </li><li>Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and identify plant water process problems. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Hazmat training is a plus. </li><li>Familiarity with chemicals and safety certifications is advantageous. </li><li>Values continuous learning and teamwork. </li><li>Ability to work with limited supervision and adapt to changing work duties. </li><li>High initiative and good communication skills. </li><li>Willingness to learn from existing chem techs and demonstrate flexibility and reliability. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>The Chemical Technician will work primarily inside the power plant, with 98% of their time dedicated to this environment. Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with rotating weekends approximately once a month. Call-ins are scheduled based on workload, with prior notice provided. Candidates should have a foundational understanding of basic chemical processes, hazardous waste, and chemical process safety according to OSHA standards. Initial training will take place in the lab for up to two weeks.</p> <p>Job Type & Location:</p> <p>This is an on-site position based in Wilsonville, Alabama.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job</p> <p>classification and length of employment.
