Rose Elementary School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>26-27 School Year</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>When Filled</p> <p>Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>BARRINGTON COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 220</p> <p>BARRINGTON, ILLINOIS 60010</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>TITLE: EXTENDED (GIFTED) RESOURCE EDUCATOR</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Current and Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate Elementary endorsement </li><li>Minimum of nine (9) semester hours in college or university coursework in the education of gifted students. </li><li>Experience working with gifted students, as well as general classroom experience. </li><li>Advanced degree or credential in Gifted Education, Gifted endorsement, Master of Education (MEd) in Gifted Education, Gifted Education Seminar, or National Board Certification preferred. </li><li>Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, enrichment models, and talent development </li><li>Experience supporting students with twice-exceptionality and diverse learning profiles preferred </li><li>Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and instructional planning skills </li></ul> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>The Extended (Gifted) Resource Educator provides enriched and accelerated instruction to identified gifted and high-achieving students in grades K-5 through a resource model. The role also serves as an instructional resource to general education teachers by supporting differentiation, enrichment, and talent development within the classroom setting. This position works collaboratively with building and district staff to support program fidelity and student growth.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Program Director</p> <p>SUPERVISES: Students identified for extended learning in language arts and mathematics</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>In addition to all duties and responsibilities outlined in the District'sEducator job description, the Extended (Gifted) Resource Educator will:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the Program Director to screen students using accepted instruments to determine candidates for the resource and self-contained programs. </li><li>Communicate frequently with parents regarding the program and progress of the students. </li><li>Provide intellectually appropriate instruction to extend the learning to the capabilities of the student. </li><li>Monitor the social/emotional growth of the students and provide appropriate support. </li><li>Work cooperatively with the Principal, Program Director, and other Resource educators to review and develop the program. </li><li>Provide and support challenging activities to general classroom teachers and students to enhance thinking skills. </li><li>Participate in the curriculum development of the district. </li><li>Understand and clearly communicate District Extended programming and established entry criteria to all stakeholders. </li><li>Collaboratively participate in data analysis and data collection related to Extended students, high-achieving students, and programming </li><li>Experience supporting and growing students with twice-exceptionality, diverse backgrounds, and needs. </li><li>Provide talent development and serve as a resource to colleagues surrounding supporting high-achieving students. </li><li>Support and, when possible, participate in program-related family engagement events to promote a positive image of the program. </li><li>A proven track record in using a rich array of instructional methods, analyzing and using data and technology to improve instruction, building professional relationships, solving problems, and planning collaboratively. </li><li>Evidence of productive experience with result-based collaboration. </li><li>Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position. </li><li>Proven ability to apply literacy and/or mathematics content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level. </li><li>Deep understanding of gifted student learning theory, brain-based learning, inquiry instruction, differentiated instruction, and extended services programming. </li><li>Proven ability to listen, share ideas, and identify obstacles to high-achieving student achievement. </li><li>Desire to continue learning "what works" in gifted classroom instruction. </li><li>Evidence of improving student achievement in the classroom. </li><li>Knowledge of standards-based education systems. </li><li>Knowledge of entry criteria, extended services processes, assessment, and programming. </li><li>Have experience as an innovative classroom teacher (or particular area teacher) who successfully integrated the use of instructional technology to enhance student learning with demonstrable results. </li><li>Must be a master teacher who continually stays up-to-date with the latest research in instructional practices, gifted instruction, and technology. </li><li>Proven ability to engage teachers in the collaborative exploration of data and interventions for high-achieving students. </li><li>Flexibility in adjusting instruction and practices to meet the needs of district-identified learners within the district program structure. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by administration, consistent with the scope of the role </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to actively engage with students in a variety of instructional settings </li><li>Ability to manage instructional materials and technology used to support enriched learning experiences </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: (Completed by Office of Human Resources</p> <p>Days/year</p> <p>182 days</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>D220 Benefits</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>BEA Salary Schedule</p>
