Must be willing to work undefined hours, weekends and holidays through the season and able to respond to all emergencies at the facility. Must be willing to perform manual work, such as but not limited to: lifting garbage cans, using rakes and shovels, pushing lawnmowers and cleaning restroom/shower building within the facility. Must operate electronic devices such as computers and credit card machines, properly maintain files and complete required daily reports, handle/account for large amounts of money, keep inventory supplies and maintain facility equipment. Must be familiar with the Guidance Manual and be willing to perform duties listed within it.</p> <p>Candidate will have basic knowledge of a variety of semi-skilled trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, roofing and property maintenance. Must be even tempered, able to speak clearly when communicating with subordinate staff and the public - to include enforcement of Rules and Regulations.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Preference may be given to candidates 18 years of age with a valid driver's license.</p> <p>Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 11/30/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.</p> <p>Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.</p> <p>Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.</p> <p>Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.</p> <p>Must be able to work in remote areas.</p> <p>Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.</p> <p>Overtime may be required.</p> <p>Weekends and holidays may be required.</p> <p>Must be available for emergency response.</p> <p>Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.</p> <p>Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.</p> <p>Must reside in State Housing.</p> <p>The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
