Onto Innovation strives to optimize customers' critical path of progress by making them smarter, faster and more efficient.</p> <p>Job Summary & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>The engineer will be responsible for developing hardware and tooling concepts</p> </li><li> <p>Perform detailed design calculations and analyses</p> </li><li> <p>Perform detailed design of optical mounts, sub-micron precision adjustment, and positioning mechanisms, assembly, and test of prototype systems</p> </li><li> <p>Finalize the design through product release for current and future metrology instruments.</p> </li><li> <p>Depending on the size and scope of the project, this work may be done by the engineer alone, or by a small team of engineers and designers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Demonstrated capability with manual machining and fabrication equipment, mill, lathe, welding</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with hand measurement tools</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated capability with stress, deflection and modal analysis using FEA programs</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated capability with the flow and thermal analysis using CFD/FEA programs</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to architect basic mechatronic systems, select motors, sensors, drive components, etc. based on satisfying system requirements</p> </li><li> <p>Experience implementing motion control systems</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with microcontrollers, Arduino, Pi Proficient with accelerometers and spectrum analyzer to quantify and diagnose a vibration</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled with contact and non-contact measurement types, indicators, cap gages, interferometer, to measure mechanical errors and drifts.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience delivering high purity gases Basic LabView experience</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with photo contamination, methods of prevention, and DUV systems</p> </li><li> <p>Experience designing mechanical systems for very clean environments, semiconductor, biotech, food systems are all applicable.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill using mathematical modeling software</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated technical depth in concept design of complex mechanical systems</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to recognize and design simple and elegant structures</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to justify and quantify performance-based metrics that led to their design decisions</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to create clear reports and documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Highly collaborative and team-oriented personality with a strong desire to succeed Experience with 3D CAD design and finite element analysis (SolidWorks preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lead small teams of engineers</p> </li><li> <p>8+ years' experience working as a mechanical design engineer</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree or higher in science or engineering (strong preference for mechanical engineering)</p> </li></ul> <p>Onto Innovation Inc. offers competitive salaries and a generous benefits package, including health/dental/vision/life/disability, PTO, 401K plan with employer match, and an Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) along with health & wellness initiatives.
