This position is responsible for performing shift-specific safety and security duties throughout all campus facilities, ensuring the well-being of students, staff, and visitors.</p> <p>The Public Safety Officer plays a critical role in maintaining order through proactive patrol, timely incident response, effective management, and appropriate follow-up. Working independently, the officer must exercise sound judgment and strong decision-making skills.</p> <p>This is a day shift, full-time position scheduled for four 10-hour days per week, Sunday through Wednesday from 6:00am to 4:00pm.</p> <p>The Public Safety Officer will earn a $2.00 per hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00pm and 6:00am, as well as for any hours worked on Sundays.</p> <p>Madison College offers an excellent benefits package including vacation, holidays, health/vision/dental/life insurance options and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).</p> <p>Madison College believes every team member brings unique perspectives and experiences that enhance our ability to understand and engage with the communities we serve, address challenges, and develop innovative solutions. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.</p> <p>Required Documents (1):</p> <ul> <li>Resume </li><li>Failure to include this document by the first consideration date will RESULT IN THE DISQUALIFICATION OF YOUR APPLICATION. </li></ul> <p>Accountabilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ensures campus safety and security by patrolling buildings, perimeters and parking areas, identifying hazards and responding to non-emergency and emergency incidents. </li><li>Maintains operational readiness by participating in ongoing training to stay current on security protocols, emergency response procedures and evolving safety measures. </li><li>Protects campus integrity by inspecting facilities for security risks, fire hazards and equipment malfunctions, ensuring proper operation of alarms, entry points and secured areas to ensure responsiveness to security risks. </li><li>Responds to incidents and service calls by collecting information, documenting events and taking appropriate action in alignment with federal, state and institutional regulations to promote a safe campus environment. </li><li>Provides emergency medical assistance by assessing medical incidents, administering CPR and first aid when necessary and coordinating external emergency response when required. </li><li>Supports campus safety protocols by escorting individuals as needed to maintain a secure and respectful environment. </li><li>Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of security and emergency response procedures, including incident management, de-escalation techniques and campus safety protocols. </li><li>Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, as well as institutional policies and regulations related to campus security and student conduct. </li><li>Skill in assessing security risks, identifying hazards and ensuring facility integrity. </li><li>Ability to provide emergency medical assistance. </li><li>Ability to respond to and document incidents, collect relevant information and take appropriate action. </li><li>Ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations. </li><li>Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment. </li><li>Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or Educational Equivalent. Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>1-3 years of relevant work experience. </li><li>Must have a valid driver's license </li><li>Must be eligible to possess Wisconsin concealed carry license and to attain CPR & AED certification. </li></ul> <p>Madison College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.
