Typically aimed at sophomores or juniors who have completed a combination of introductory and advanced coursework.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Assist in monthly billing of campus departments. Needs to be familiar with Excel and other basic computer functions. Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain a record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assists in collecting data to create monthly invoices to departments on campus that are part of the Canon Fleet Leasing program. </li><li>Create invoices for departments/accounts on and off campus. </li><li>Aides in the application of principles of accounting and, with experience, may handle complex tasks. </li><li>Utilizes knowledge of accounting principles related to classifying, recording, and summarizing data and making computations to compile and keep financial records. </li><li>Finalizes accounting reports. </li><li>Studies and analyzes accounting records for purposes of preparing statements and reports. </li><li>Includes such activities as keeping and verifying records of transactions; receiving and disbursing money; computing and verifying amounts; preparing records; combining data and performing computations to create statistical records; and computing costs, verifying bills, invoices, rates, etc. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Additional Store Responsibilities</p> <p>In addition to core accounting duties, the Student Accountant will support the daily operations of the BYU-Hawaii Store. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Assisting with cashiering and point-of-sale transactions. </li><li>Providing excellent customer service and assisting with general store inquiries. </li><li>Supporting inventory counts and restocking efforts. </li><li>Preparing cellphone reports. </li><li>Collaborating with store staff to ensure smooth daily operations. </li><li>Participating in Saturday shifts on a rotating schedule. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications </li><li>Understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation </li><li>Strong customer service and interpersonal skills </li><li>Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management </li><li>Clear and professional written and verbal communication </li><li>Ability to multitask, follow instructions, and work independently </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <p>Upper Division Courses Completed</p> <p>Major in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.</p> <p>Currently enrolled in foundation accounting (ACCT186, ACCT201, ACCT203) or business courses</p> <p>Work Experience</p> <p>3 Months of Directly Relevant Experience</p> <p>Candidates should have experience handling data entry, preparing invoices or reports, or assisting with financial records. Familiarity with office tasks such as document organization, email communication, and using spreadsheets is essential. Any prior work involving billing, customer accounts, or bookkeeping is a strong plus.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Standing for extended periods during cashiering or inventory tasks </li><li>Occasional lifting or moving of boxes and merchandise (up to 15 lbs) </li><li>Walking or moving between store areas and storage rooms </li></ul> <p>Work Location</p> <p>In person</p> <p>Base Rate Per Hour:</p> <p>14.50</p> <ul> <li>Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations </li><li>Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks </li></ul>
