Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.</p> <p>Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum</p> <p>$39.15 - $45.00 - $53.23</p> <p>Respiratory Therapist - Per Diem (Nights)</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>Respiratory Therapists work under the general supervision of a physician and are responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with disorders affecting breathing. Clinical coverage includes Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal populations.</p> <p>Respiratory Therapists perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluations and administer a wide range of respiratory therapy treatments designed to support patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies or dysfunction. This includes acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting diagnostic data from various tests and specimens.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Perform Diagnostic Evaluations Independently: </li></ol> <ul> <li> <p>Pulmonary function testing</p> </li><li> <p>Interventional diagnostics</p> </li><li> <p>Sleep studies</p> </li><li> <p>Non-invasive and invasive diagnostic procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Blood gas analysis and other relevant laboratory testing</p> </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Administer Respiratory Therapeutics: </li></ol> <ul> <li> <p>Medical gas, humidity, and aerosol therapies</p> </li><li> <p>Artificial airway management and care</p> </li><li> <p>Airway clearance techniques</p> </li><li> <p>Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation</p> </li><li> <p>Vascular catheter insertion, management, and care</p> </li><li> <p>Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS)</p> </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Conduct Comprehensive Patient Assessments: </li></ol> <ul> <li> <p>Physical examinations</p> </li><li> <p>Interpretation of diagnostic data</p> </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Evaluate and Adjust Therapies: </li></ol> <ul> <li> <p>Modify therapy based on patient response and laboratory results</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct regular patient rounds</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor equipment, make necessary adjustments, and ensure timely removal and cleaning</p> </li><li> <p>Perform oxygen rounds and titrate as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with physicians regarding therapy recommendations</p> </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Manage Acute and Chronic Respiratory Diseases</p> </li><li> <p>Provide Collaborative Support for Hemodynamic Stability</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in Discharge Planning and Case Management</p> </li><li> <p>Deliver Emergency, Acute, Critical, and Post-Acute Care:</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li> <p>Patient and environmental assessment</p> </li><li> <p>Therapeutic interventions</p> </li><li> <p>Patient transport (land and air)</p> </li></ul> <ol start="9"> <li>Ensure Safety and Equipment Maintenance: </li></ol> <ul> <li> <p>Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blue events</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to departmental policies for quality assurance, safety, and infection control</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain, troubleshoot, and document equipment performance; report malfunctions promptly</p> </li></ul> <ol start="10"> <li>Precept New Staff and Students: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Mentor new Respiratory Therapists and support Respiratory Therapy and Nursing students </li></ul> <ol start="11"> <li>Maintain Required Certifications: </li></ol> <ul> <li> <p>Maintain all required AHA certifications</p> </li><li> <p>Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for facilities with Obstetrics departments</p> </li></ul> <ol start="12"> <li>Meet and Maintain Clinical Ladder Requirements for Level II Respiratory Therapist </li></ol> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>1 year of clinical experience preferred </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <p>Associates of Science (Required)</p> <p>Certifications:</p> <p>Basic Life Support - American Heart AssociationAmerican Heart Association, Registered Respiratory Therapist - State of MassachusettsState of Massachusetts, Registered Respiratory Therapist - The National Board for Respiratory CareThe National Board for Respiratory Care</p> <p>Equal Employment Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Baystate Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
