<p>Please note our lab is relocating to Wethersfield, CT in 2025</p> <p>Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a Full Time Laboratory Assistant to join our Norwich Pathology Lab. We are the largest gastroenterology practice in the state of Connecticut with 30 Care Centers and still growing. Here at CTGI our promise is to treat every patient as if they were a member of our own families, and we are looking for team members who also embody this vision!</p> <p>A Short List Of Reasons Why You Should Work For CTGI</p> <ul> <li>Selected as a Top Workplace 8 Times </li><li>Competitive Pay </li><li>Very Fast-Growing Practice </li></ul> <p>Lab Aide Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Accurately and efficiently accessions anatomical lab test specimens </li><li>Verifies all specimens that come in are labeled appropriately and that they match the labels on the requisition to ensure that there are no issues with patient identity and reporting </li><li>Prepares specimens received for testing in reference laboratory </li><li>Enters patient demographics into the electronic medical record </li><li>Reviews and Accessions specimens and testing orders for laboratory analysis </li><li>Assists technologists and technicians with the operation of standard laboratory instruments </li><li>Perform routine laboratory assistant duties according to agency standards and protocols </li><li>Perform specimen or reception check, and records information into LIS </li><li>Cleans work area, and surrounding laboratory after completion of work day </li><li>Receives phone orders for lab tests from physicians, nurses, endo centers </li><li>Follows all laboratory safety rules and reports any possible hazards to the Lab Manager </li><li>Files and/or retrieves lab copies of patient test reports in cabinet files and/or in computer </li><li>Keeps the Lab Supervisor informed about malfunctioning of any office equipment </li><li>Verifies inventories and prepares orders for certain lab supplies as directed by the Lab Office Supervisor </li><li>Sorts and distributes incoming correspondence, email, tasks notification, phone calls. </li><li>Maintains biohazardous records and logs; arranges for pickup of hazardous materials monthly </li></ul> <p>Job Type: Full time</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Friday 4:00pm - 12:30am</p> <p>Salary: From $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>401(k) </li><li>Dental insurance </li><li>Employee assistance program </li><li>Flexible spending account </li><li>Health insurance </li><li>Life insurance </li><li>Paid time off </li><li>Vision insurance </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High school or equivalent (Required) </li><li>Some college science preferred </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate of Science preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience: One (1) year experience in laboratory setting preferred.</p> <p>Additional Qualifications: N/A</p> <p>Performance Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be reliable </li><li>Excellent communication skills </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision </li><li>Ability to pay close attention to detail </li><li>Ability to compile data </li><li>Ability to follow instructions/procedures </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers </li><li>Ability to perform work activities in a team environment with open communication. </li><li>Ability to maintain attention to detail and concentrate for extended periods of time. </li><li>Ability to function in a fast-paced environment while under substantial time pressures and still maintain quality patient care </li><li>Proficient technical (computer) skills with keyboarding. </li><li>Strong multi-tasking ability in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Self-motivated with initiative. </li><li>Strong sense of ethics. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. </li><li>Use of hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools or controls. </li><li>Reach with hands and arms </li><li>Occasionally climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. </li><li>Constantly talk, hear and smell. </li><li>Frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move 25 to 50 pounds. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. </li></ul> <p>Equipment Operated</p> <p>This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Also, laboratory equipment is used daily.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This job operates in professional laboratory environments. Frequent exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, moving/mechanical parts, sharp objects, blood or body fluids, communicable diseases, computer monitors, repetitive motions. Local travel in the region may be required to another location as needed.</p>
