<p>SCOPE OF POSITION:</p> <p>The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides leadership over all aspects of Greater Waterbury Health Network to ensure the delivery of quality, cost effective healthcare while meeting Prospect's performance objectives.</p> <p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Continuously carries out GWHN mission to attain excellence in the provision of healthcare services by consistently fulfilling the commitment to quality, and by compassionately and skillfully delivering continuously improved patient centered services. </li><li>Participates with Prospect Medical Holdings (PMH) leadership in developing the hospital/medical center's strategic plan in response to the developing needs of the community. </li><li>Recommends hospital policy positions regarding legislation, government, administrative policy and other matters of public policy. Informs and advises PMH leadership regarding current trends, issues and activities in health care to facilitate policy-making. </li><li>Serves as liaison and channel of communication between PMH leadership and local medical staff and assists with organizational and administrative problems and responsibilities. </li><li>Represents PMH and hospital in its relationships with other health agencies, organizations, and groups; and in dealings with government agencies and third party payers. </li><li>Encourages the integration of the hospital with the community through effective communication and public relations programs. </li><li>In coordination with the local and national leadership, the medical staff and other hospital personnel, responds to the community's needs for quality healthcare services by continually monitoring the adequacy of the hospital's clinical activities. </li><li>Directs and supervises all hospital activities in conjunction with senior management team. </li><li>Works with management, clinical and administrative staff to provide for a well-managed hospital with clear lines of responsibility and accountability within departments and centers and between departments/centers and administration. </li><li>Works with management, clinical and administrative staff to provide internal controls protecting physical, financial, and human resources. </li><li>Insures the provision of affordable quality healthcare services by the acquisition, utilization; and organization of available resources (human, financial, and physical) and the development of improved techniques and practices. </li><li>Assures availability of adequate information and other support services. </li><li>Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the operations and its programs and physical properties, and initiating changes where required. </li><li>Responds promptly to reports and recommendations from planning, regulatory, and inspecting agencies, as outlined by the local and national leadership. </li><li>Keeps lines of communication open with both management and staff; seek to maintain high employee morale and a professional, healthy work environment. </li><li>Maintains professional affiliations and enhance professional growth and development to keep abreast of latest trends in hospital administration. </li><li>Completes staff performance assessments within established time frames; sets clear expectations and goals for performance. </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or equivalent experience required; preference will be given to those with background in business administration. </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of hospital / acute care setting. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of changing healthcare environment, nationally and regionally, and how managed care affects the delivery of care in the hospital setting. </li><li>Ten to twelve years of progressive responsibilities in hospital leadership/management positions, with proven track record of accomplishments. </li><li>Interrelationships: The CEO must possess excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability and tact creating a favorable image in relationship to the Medical Center and PMH as a whole. Must develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas. Must visibly demonstrate commitment to the "Team Spirit," customer relations, and all of the basic concepts of total quality atmosphere. Considerable discretion, resourcefulness, and persuasiveness may be required to achieve desired objectives through negotiations, or influencing the decisions of others. </li></ul>
