<p>Position Summary</p> <p>As the Bureau Director, you will provide executive leadership to a large, dynamic organization. MilES employs 430 staff and provides FoodShare and Badger Care Plus/Medicaid and childcare eligibility services for Milwaukee County residents. Management needs change rapidly, and over 60,000 phone calls, 20,000 walk-ins, and approximately 3,000 online applications are handled monthly across two walk-in locations. As a result, extensive strategic planning skills and executive leadership expertise is required for this position.</p> <p>This position is also responsible for directing, coordinating, planning, monitoring and evaluating the operational activities of all Sections and administrative support staff and the functions required to ensure compliance with all federal healthcare and FoodShare federal and state policies.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The starting salary is between $124,800 and $133,058 annually (between $60.00 and $63.97 hourly) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 24-month career executive trial period is required.</p> <p>Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Health Services Manager and is in pay schedule and range 81/01. Pay will be set in accordance with the compensation plan in effect at the time of appointment.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.</p> <p>For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.</p> <p>Employees must have access to secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided.</p> <p>DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants must have all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience leading and managing operations within a large organization (i.e., 200+ employees) that serves diverse staff and clientele. </li><li>Experience supervising managers within a large organization (i.e., 200+ employees) conducting activities such as providing direction, leadership, staff development, feedback, mentoring/coaching, and conflict resolution. </li><li>Experience leading operations-focused quality improvement projects and strategic planning efforts. This includes analyzing and evaluating operational effectiveness and implementing improvement initiatives. </li><li>Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with administrative officials, legislators, state/federal/county agencies, provider groups, consumers, and the general public. </li></ul> <p>Well-qualified applicants will have one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience as an executive leader incorporating Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) principles and practices into an organization's operational policies and procedures. </li><li>Experience formally supervising managers within a highly regulated human services, health care, or governmental organization. </li><li>Experience in leadership role overseeing the administration of FoodShare, Badger Care Plus/Medicaid and childcare eligibility or similar large government programs. </li><li>Experience managing a call center of at least 50 staff. </li></ul> <p>Your letter of qualifications is limited to two (2) pages.
