The supervisor will oversee daily operations, ensure adherence to state and federal UI policies, and drive performance to meet service and compliance standards.</p> <p>Here's what we have to offer!</p> <ul> <li>13 paid holidays </li><li>Vacation and sick leave that begin accruing immediately </li><li>Military leave </li><li>156% state-matched retirement </li><li>Tuition reimbursement </li><li>Employee assistance program </li><li>79% employer paid health insurance plans </li><li>Dental and vision insurance plans </li><li>Employer-paid $20,000 life insurance policy </li><li>Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) through the Federal government </li><li>Wide variety and availability of career advancement as the largest and most diverse employer in the State </li><li>Opportunity to be part of meaningful work and make a difference through public service </li><li>Training and Development based on your career aspirations </li><li>Fun, inviting teammates </li><li>A safe and secure environment </li></ul> <p>Examples of Work</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist in the planning and coordination of the unit by applying State and Federal laws and agency policies related to the administration of the Unemployment Insurance Program.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain State and Federal performance standards; assume responsibility for the daily operation of the unit.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate and direct the work of staff to meet quality and timeliness requirements, assign and delegate tasks, implement productivity standards, handle escalated issues, identify trends, and address challenges and communicate them to the UI Program Supervisor.</p> </li><li> <p>Set performance goals and deadlines, monitor team productivity, provide support, coaching, and mentor assigned staff, present and complete performance evaluations, and recommend personnel actions related to selection, discipline, performance, leave, grievances, work schedules, and assignments as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Interview, hire, and train staff in policies and procedures and to meet established work performance standards and requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Create and maintain training manuals; implement new procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with agency data validation in accordance with Federal requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage appropriate access levels to agency and Federal computer systems and applications.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide technical and supervisory support to the UI Program Supervisor. Must have general knowledge of all inter-department functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in developing short and long-term strategies to meet performance measures related to the unit.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with other units as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>May be necessary to travel in and out state by request of the UI Director</p> </li><li> <p>Other supervisory duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>Location: 500 South 16th Street, Lincoln</p> <p>Work Schedule: 8am- 5pm; Monday - Friday</p> <p>Requirements / Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in public or business administration, accounting, social/behavioral sciences or related field; AND one year experience in personnel, unemployment insurance, employment services, insurance, accounting, interviewing and analyzing/evaluating financial data or experience in a public service program including answering inquiries and explaining procedures. Experience supervising, leading or directing others.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: Two years' experience in an Unemployment Insurance Program (UI Claims, UI Benefits, UI BIU, UI BAM, UI Tax). Management/supervision or similar leadership training/experience. Experience researching, interpreting state and federal law and implementing NESL/NAC requirements and federal UIPL, TEGL, and TEN guidance.</p> <p>Knowledge, skills and abilities:</p> <p>Knowledge of: the principles and techniques of supervision; NESL 48:601 - 671, NAC Title 218-226, UI Benefit Payment System, Nebraska Appeals Tribunal, State & Federal UI Compensation laws; the Nebraska Employment Security law; social/behavior sciences, principles and practices of basic accounting methods; foundation of math; training methods, procedures and evaluation; interviewing techniques; work performance or other standards development.</p> <p>Ability to: interact with people of varied socio-economic levels to maintain working relationships; receive and understand directives; follow instructions; communicate effectively so others can understand; prepare clear and concise reports; defend and explain decisions made; manage time and workload; adapt to changes within the workplace; present information in a professional manner; plan, assign, train, direct and evaluate the work of UI staff in UI benefits, audit processing, and collections procedures; interpret and explain rules, guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to the Nebraska UI program.</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
