<p>Position: Providence Assistant (Floater)</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Scope</p> <p>The floater/support staff's primary duties are to support students with Down syndrome and collaborate with teachers (classroom and Providence) and the Providence Director to strengthen classroom support for teachers to improve training, effectiveness, and retention of assistants, while also preserving teachers' time for direct instruction and intervention with students.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:</p> <ul> <li>A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit </li><li>A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school </li><li>Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of Christian Academy </li><li>Agreement and belief that The Bible is the authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate shall provide/successfully complete the following:</p> <ul> <li>Previous professional experience with special needs children preferred </li><li>Copy of High School diploma or transcript of highest degree earned </li><li>CPR & First Aid Training </li><li>Must be 18 years of age </li></ul> <p>Accountabilities / Responsibilities</p> <p>Key responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assess assistant training needs in collaboration with teachers and Providence Director </li><li>Provide ongoing support, in-class coaching, data collection, and feedback based on the identified needs </li><li>Model evidence-based instructional and behavioral support strategies for assistants </li><li>Support classroom and lunch coverage as needed to ensure uninterrupted instruction and professional learning </li><li>Create and implement a structured coaching plan aligned with student needs and staff development goals </li><li>Assistant will assure each child is treated with love and value and taught that God made him/her special </li></ul> <p>Outcomes</p> <p>Staff Outcomes</p> <ul> <li>Increased instructional assistant confidence, competence, and consistency </li><li>Improved retention through meaningful professional growth and support </li><li>Stronger collaboration and role clarity between teachers and assistants </li><li>Increased classroom teacher support and reduced instructional interruptions </li></ul> <p>Student Outcomes</p> <ul> <li>Greater access to consistent instruction in inclusive settings </li><li>Improved behavioral consistency and student engagement </li><li>Increased academic progress toward Family Service Plan (FSP) and instructional goals due to aligned, well-implemented classroom support </li><li>Increased student independence as well-trained assistants effectively scaffold learning and promote engagement </li></ul> <p>Reporting Relationship</p> <ul> <li>The Providence Assistant Floater is responsible to the Providence Director and school principals. </li></ul>
