<p>SUMMARY:</p> <p>Assist physicians in providing high-quality patient care, while also exhibiting strong customer service skills to our patients and the overall practice.</p> <p>Brown University Health employees are expected to successfully role model the organization's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence as these values guide our everyday actions with patients, customers and one another.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks such as: lab tracking and data entry, document management, obtaining patient histories and vital signs, verifying medication lists, preparing charts and pre-visit planning</p> </li><li> <p>Performs routine specialized procedures, such as EKGs, rapid strep, urine dips, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Administers injections including vaccines and medications</p> </li><li> <p>Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters</p> </li><li> <p>Schedules, coordinates, and tracks STAT patient referrals and pre-authorizations</p> </li><li> <p>Work quality reports to ensure gaps of care are closed and maintain consistent quality scores</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains stock levels for medicines and medical supplies as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors and audits vaccine refrigeration temperature in line with Department of Health Regulations</p> </li><li> <p>Practices safety, environmental and/or infection control methods</p> </li><li> <p>Complies with OSHA and DOH standards</p> </li><li> <p>Complies with federal and local confidentiality laws, including HIPAA, ensuring patient privacy</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to Brown Health Medical Group guidelines for protecting patients' demographic, clinical and financial information</p> </li><li> <p>Provides superior customer service and outstanding patient care</p> </li><li> <p>Attend meetings/workshops as they relate to current position and office workflows</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>BASIC KNOWLEDGE</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School graduate or equivalent required.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to read, write, and speak English.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic Life Support Certification required.</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of a medical assistant certification preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li> <p>Graduate of a formal medical assistant training program or a minimum of 3 years of medical assistant experience required.</p> </li><li> <p>Exceptions to the above requirements may be considered for applicants who do not have formal medical assistant training, but have at least three years of related experience in a comparable role, such as LPN, medical student, EMT, paramedic, etc.</p> </li></ul> <p>Pay Range:</p> <p>$18.13-$29.90</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>Brown University Health is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and maintaining a work environment free from all forms of unlawful discrimination and harassment.</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Providence-208 Collyer Street - 208 Collyer Street Providence, Rhode Island 02904</p> <p>Work Type:</p> <p>830a-500p</p> <p>Work Shift:</p> <p>Day</p> <p>Daily Hours:</p> <p>8 hours</p> <p>Driving Required:</p> <p>Yes</p>
