<p>HEAD STAFF ASSISTANT Grade 28</p> <p>General statement of duties and responsibilities: Under general supervision and using appropriate current technology, performs complex administrative work for a large unit or department.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Responds to inquiries and requests for information.</p> </li><li> <p>Using current technology, prepares correspondence, reports, notices, and other documents.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs complex administrative work for a large unit or department.</p> </li><li> <p>May oversee scheduling for members of the unit or department and for the unit's or department's activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Creates and maintains the unit's or department's databases.</p> </li><li> <p>As needed, prepares payroll and requisitions.</p> </li><li> <p>May supervise clerical staff</p> </li><li> <p>Performs related duties of a similar nature, as requested by supervisor, which are commensurate with job classification.</p> </li></ol> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalency </li><li>Minimum two years clerical or secretarial experience </li><li>Proficient in word processing, email, and database programs </li><li>Successfully completed appropriate coursework </li><li>Good oral and written communication skills </li><li>Good organizational skills </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Post secondary education or course work </li><li>Minimum of one year supervisory experience </li></ul> <p>The Boston Public Schools, in accordance with its nondiscrimination policies, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, criminal record, physical or mental disability, pregnancy or pregnancy-related conditions, homelessness, sex/gender, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, genetics, natural or protective hairstyle, military status, immigration status, English language proficiency, or any other factor prohibited by law in its programs and activities.
