This role involves gathering and analyzing data, preparing bid and budget proposals, and collaborating with other members of the estimating team in achieving project objectives.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist in developing cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor tasks. </li><li>Conduct quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications. </li><li>Prepare preliminary budgets and detailed estimates on specific work scopes assigned from Sr/Chief Estimator. </li><li>Understand assigned tasks and associated timeline for completion. </li><li>Utilize historical data, cost database, and current market trends to support understanding of labor, material, and equipment costs. </li><li>Review sketches, drawings, narratives, and/or technical specifications for thorough understanding of design intent. </li><li>Solicit bids and quotes from vendors and subcontractors. </li><li>Evaluate and compare received quotes to ensure accuracy and completeness. </li><li>Solicit subcontractors to create or maintain relationships to ensure participation in bids. </li><li>Maintain organized records of project estimates, proposals, and revisions as directed. </li><li>Assist in Cost Report preparation with Sr/Chief Estimator to present findings to team members or clients. </li><li>Work closely with Sr/Chief Estimator and Operations to ensure alignment on project goals and requirements. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of construction documents and ability to read blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation. </li><li>Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. </li><li>Strong analytical skills to interpret plans, specifications, and cost data. </li><li>Ability to maintain and analyze time commitment versus deadlines. </li><li>Understanding of MasterFormat designation and organization in estimates. </li><li>Basic knowledge of construction methods and materials. </li><li>Ability to utilize on-screen takeoff tools for quantity survey. </li><li>Dependability in fulfilling obligations to the estimating team and company. </li><li>Cooperative attitude and ability to collaborate with others in the office. </li><li>Good knowledge and understanding of computers and technology. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with estimation software. </li><li>Knowledge in project management and construction management. </li><li>Proficiency in accubid, bidding, cost estimate, change order, and Excel. </li><li>Experience in project budgets and estimating software. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The Junior Estimator will report directly to the Chief Estimator/Sr Estimator. The work environment is collaborative and requires the ability to work closely with team members. The role involves utilizing various estimating software and tools to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poughkeepsie, NY.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
