<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital, 130 SC-252, Anderson, SC 29621.</p> <p>The Office of Mental Health's mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.</p> <p>As the Laundry Worker II, working under general supervision, you will perform various laundry duties, including the operation of industrial washing machines and dryers; collects, sorts, processes and distribute laundry and linen in compliance with regulations.</p> <p>Responsibilities for the Laundry Worker II:</p> <ul> <li>Load and operate industrial washers and dryers, according to established procedures Items processed include, but are not limited to, bath towels, floor mats, wash cloths, laundry bags, patients' pajamas and other personal clothing. </li><li>Gather soiled laundry and bio-hazard waste from designated areas following infection control guidelines relative to contaminated linens (includes proper bagging and labeling). Deliver soiled items to service building in laundry van. </li><li>Sort laundry items; prepare and bag bed linen for laundry service; inspect items for appropriate quality; remove/repair damaged items. </li><li>Fold and stack clean laundry items. Sort and count items for proper redistribution to patient lodges. Responsible for sanitary storage of laundry. Deliver linen, cleaning rags and all other items needed to patients' lodges and appropriate areas. </li><li>Follow all established policies and procedures. Maintain and demonstrate competence in training, such as MAPS, SCEIS Modules, and Infection Control. </li><li>Maintain the clean and dirty linen room floors in the laundry department. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Experience in laundry, supply or sewing operations that is directly related to the area of employment. Must have a valid SC driver's license and the ability to drive a state fleet vehicle. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to work while standing, be physically capable of lifting and bending, have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. </li><li>Ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and climb at least two (2) to three (3) flights of stairs and tolerate noise levels. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>One (1) year of experience in commercial or institutional laundry services. </li><li>Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Post hire, employees must</p> <ul> <li>Have a working knowledge of the operation of heavy-duty laundry machinery </li><li>Be familiar with various types of detergents, bleaches and their effect on fabric. </li></ul> <p>The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions including, but not limited, to lactation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.</p> <p>Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
