<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Assistant Vice President - Controller is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing Siena's accounting operations within a complex, fund-based, non-profit environment. Reporting directly to the CFO/Vice President for Finance & Administration, this role ensures financial integrity, compliance, and operational excellence while supporting Siena's mission and strategic goals.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Accounting Operations</p> <ul> <li>Payroll Oversight: Lead payroll operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. </li><li>Accounts Payable: Supervise the A/P process, ensuring proper documentation, accuracy, and timely vendor payments. </li><li>Endowment Accounting: Manage the accounting for endowed funds, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and applicable regulations. </li><li>Property, Plant, & Equipment (PP&E): Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and physical asset tracking. </li></ul> <p>Audit & Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Audit & 990 Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, overseeing annual financial audits, preparation of Form 990, and all other reporting requirements. </li><li>Internal Control Oversight: Design and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure compliance. </li></ul> <p>Financial Reporting & Close Processes</p> <ul> <li>Monthly Close & Reconciliations: Direct monthly financial close processes, ensuring timely reconciliations and accurate financial statements. </li><li>Grant Accounting/Reporting: Manage accounting and reporting for grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and donor restrictions. </li><li>Gift Accounting: Manage all gift accounting, including split-interest agreements. Maintain compliance with donor restrictions and funding requirements. </li></ul> <p>Strategic Leadership & Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with academic and administrative departments across the College to align financial practices with institutional goals. </li><li>Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals and associates, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development. </li><li>Deliver clear, actionable financial insights to key stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, President, Leadership Team, and Governance Committees. </li></ul> <p>Policy & Best Practices</p> <ul> <li>Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and funder directives. </li><li>Identify and implement industry best practices to enhance operational efficiency. </li></ul> <p>Annual Salary Range: $136,500.00 -$150,000.00</p> <ul> <li>The hiring salary above represents the College's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field. </li><li>In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting and non-profit financial compliance; </li><li>10+ years accounting experience in Higher Education or a non-profit organization of similar complexity. </li><li>3+ years of experience managing accounting teams and fostering collaboration across departments; </li><li>Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); </li><li>Strong ability to convey complex financial information to diverse stakeholders effectively; </li><li>The ability to work independently, yet recognize situations that call for informed input is required; </li><li>The ability to prioritize multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines, and to work additional hours outside of regular business hours and weekends as required; </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Accounting or related field </li><li>Experience with Banner or a similarly complex ERP system </li><li>CPA </li></ul> <p>A background screening will be required.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>Siena College offers a generous benefit package to eligible full-time employees.
