<p>The New Jersey VA Healthcare System is seeking an experienced and dynamic Emergency Medicine Physician. VHA Physician Total Rewards.</p> <p>Duties:</p> <p>The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Perform evaluations, stabilization and treatment on initial encounter with unscheduled, emergency and urgent care patients. </li><li>Order appropriate routine diagnostic tests and x-ray studies necessary to complete the evaluation. </li><li>Coordinate patient treatment plans involving Primary Care and specialists as appropriate. </li><li>Provide physician oversight to ED nursing staff and ED mid-levels providers. </li><li>Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. </li><li>Participate on committees of the Medical staff. </li><li>Attend physician ED staff meetings. </li><li>Practice EM that is consistent and in line with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Model for the Clinical Practice of EM and emergent care that is congruent with the facility's capabilities. </li><li>Support and participate with EDs in the existing EMS system and provision of medical direction for the patients in the pre-hospital setting, where appropriate. </li><li>Supervise, teach, and evaluate the performance of medical and paramedical personnel including students, PA's, residents, and fellows in the ED. </li><li>Evaluate and provide emergency care to individual patients presenting to the ED that is consistent with all applicable standards and regulations, including compliance with the intent of the Emergency Medicine Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) 42 United States Code (U.S.C.) 1395dd. </li><li>Ensure that the practice is consistent with Joint Commission, OIG, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice emergency medicine guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education, and HIPPA policies. </li><li>Engage in systematic evaluation and improvement of the quality and effectiveness of patient care. Participates in peer review and other process improvements regarding quality and safety initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Work Schedule: Tour of duty will be variable and will include nights, weekends and holiday shifts</p>
