<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Director of Special Services</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>3/30/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Harding Township School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>7/1/26</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>unitl filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <p>Supervise, plan, and coordinate child study team activities, including related service providers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, district policy and regulations, and State monitoring and corrective action mandates.</p> <p>Supervise, plan, and coordinate special education teacher activities in compliance with local, State, and Federal laws and regulations.</p> <p>Supervise, plan, and coordinate the functioning of child study team members and related service providers in accordance with N.J.A.C 6A:14</p> <p>Serve as the liaison for special education between the district and outside agencies, sending districts, receiving districts, special schools, and institutions.</p> <p>Coordinate the activities of special education with regular education instructional programs, child study team, related service providers, and administration</p> <p>Develop, monitor, and coordinate technology for all child study team members, related service providers, and office staff in conjunction with district technology specialists.</p> <p>Supervise and coordinate special services databases.</p> <p>Assist the Business Administrator and administrative assistants in preparing all Federal, State, and local grants and reports on special education programs including IDEA, IDEA Carry-Over, and Final Reports.</p> <p>Develop and implement new special education programs/classes as they become necessary in an effort to promote inclusion.</p> <p>Coordinate and supervise all special education programs and preschool throughout the district.</p> <p>Arrange with neighboring school districts and approved private schools for the education of those classified students who cannot be adequately served in the district.</p> <p>Coordinate and monitor out of district requests for pupil placement in district special education programs.</p> <p>Supervise and evaluate all out of district programs in Board approved placements.</p> <p>Supervise, coordinate, and implement special education summer programs, transportation, and child study team summer meetings and evaluations as mandated by N.J.A.C. 6A:14.</p> <p>Stay informed regarding all legal requirements governing special education programs.</p> <p>Collaborate, supervise, and monitor the special education board attorney for any and all special education legal proceedings.</p> <p>Supervise, coordinate, and attend all due process and special education court proceedings.</p> <p>Coordinate and approve child study team and teachers attendance at various workshops to stay abreast of best practices.</p> <p>Coordinate and approve the ordering of supplies, furniture, equipment, and textbooks for all child study teams and special education teachers throughout the district</p> <p>Plan, coordinate, and assign special education teacher schedules, classes, and programs in collaboration with the principal.</p> <p>Evaluate existing special education programs as to their effectiveness and recommend changes and additions as required.</p> <p>Plan, coordinate, and conduct monthly child study team and related service provider meetings, which include an in-service component on various issues related to special education programming, timelines, and IEP functioning, as well as monitoring and corrective action issues.</p> <p>Receive and review all referrals made to the child study team and related service providers. Receive and intermittently review IEPs and reports from all of the child study team members.</p> <p>Provide for the comprehensive initial evaluation, triennial reevaluation, classification and placement of students. Provide for accommodations, modifications, supplementary aids and services, and assistive technology for classified students. Develop, maintain, and supervise procedures to ensure adequate time and equitable distribution of cases among team members and related service providers</p> <p>Coordinate and supervise all activities of those cases/students involved in legal proceedings</p> <p>Present at teacher orientations, board meetings, faculty meetings, and parent meetings as requested.</p> <p>Cooperate with public and private agencies, organizations and professional personnel in securing and providing services for classified students.</p> <p>Provide professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating the effective delivery of Special Education services, Section 504/American Disabilities Act (ADA) services, McKinney-Vento Homeless Act, and student health services.</p> <p>Serves as the District's Anti-Bullying Specialist, Early Childhood Contact. Serve as co-facilitator of the School Safety/Climate & Culture Team.</p> <p>Coordinates and supervises all child study team personnel/ programs, special education services and maintains all records, as required by law, code, and district guidelines.</p> <p>Carries out special functions, projects, or duties as directed by the superintendent of schools.</p> <p>Qualifications: New Jersey Supervisor/Principal Certificate or eligibility. New Jersey Certificate as a Special Education Teacher, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, or LDT-C in one or more of the aforementioned areas preferred</p> <p>Hold a Master's Degree or Doctorate. Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of special education, remedial education, curriculum development, program evaluation, staff development, and school improvement. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional supervisory techniques with a strong background in IEP development and child study team evaluation. Administrative Experience preferred. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.</p> <p>Salary: Range $120-$160 depending on prior experience and determined by the Board of Education.</p>
