<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Associate Director of Athletics / Head Athletic Trainer of Mount Mary University's NAIA programs is an integral member of the Athletic Department at Mount Mary University and requires an enthusiastic, pro-active, high-energy individual who is determined to see that the Athletics Department goals are met and student-athletes health and safety are prioritized. The primary roles of the Associate Director of Athletics will consist of assisting with department compliance and eligibility supervision serving as the Athletics Compliance Administrator; management of the Caroline Fitness Center and partner with the Exercise Science program on needs of the space, equipment evaluation and budget supervision; and maintain sport supervision over assigned sport program(s). Additionally, as part of their Associate Director of Athletics responsibilities they will collaborate within the Athletics senior leadership team to maintain and strengthen the athletics department in the areas of budgeting, revenue, recruiting, retention and development. The primary roles of the Head Athletic Trainer are to provide comprehensive healthcare services for MMU student-athletes; including injury prevention, clinical evaluation, emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of all athletic injuries. The Head Athletic Trainer also plays an active role in education, communication, and the implementation of health and safety protocols while providing a positive and respectful clinical environment for all coaches and athletes. This individual must be committed to the NAIA values through "Character-driven Athletics" where MMU athletics staff embody and teach integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership on and off the field, in addition to the MMU Athletic Department pillars to "Recruit, Retain, and Develop".</p> <p>The Associate Director of Athletics / Head Athletic Trainer works primarily with the Team physician, athletics staff, FAR, coaches, student-athletes, student workers, admissions staff, faculty and other administrative offices to ensure that each Mount Mary University student-athlete and prospective student-athlete receives a quality experience. This opportunity requires the availability to work a variable schedule. Hours will be determined by mutual agreement with the Director of Athletics and work to best accommodate the needs of the sport programs, along with the Athletics Department. Pre/post season hours likely to be slightly more consistent than in-season hours. Work schedule can vary during peak sports seasons.</p> <p>The NAIA experience provides our student-athletes an integrated environment that focuses on academic success while offering competitive athletics and the support of meaningful non-athletics opportunities to enhance their overall educational experience.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <p>Associate Director of Athletics</p> <ul> <li> <p>Participate in the Athletics senior leadership team within the Athletic Department. To include the support of the Mount Mary University mission and the philosophy of NAIA athletics</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in budget planning, fundraising and development activities in collaboration with the Department of Alumnae and Donor Relations (note: all fundraising is to be administered in collaboration with that department)</p> </li><li> <p>Athletics Compliance Administrator</p> </li><li> <p>Shall work in cooperation with the Faculty Athletics Representative and the Director of Athletics to foster and environment of education of compliance and adherence to all NAIA and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regulations; including but not limited to rules education programs, academic eligibility, tracking participation dates/practice seasons, drug, tobacco, alcohol use, amateurism, and scheduling regulations, reporting any possible infraction to the Director of Athletics</p> </li><li> <p>Sport supervision over assigned sport program(s)</p> </li><li> <p>Meet/collaborate on the overall sport program(s) and recruiting plans/courses of action twice a month</p> </li><li> <p>Provide recruiting support, guidance, and mentoring to assigned sport program Coach(es), along with Assistant Coaches to help them reach recruiting and retention goal</p> </li><li> <p>Help with planning contacts, visits, follow ups of PSA's, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Become proficient with the university and athletic department's recruiting software to be able to provide coaches with updates on PSA's status, recent contacts, missing application materials, etc</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the Caroline Fitness Center (CFC) supervision</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule and manage student workers for the Carolien Fitness Center front desk and Bloechl Center front desk</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the hiring, training, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of student workers</p> </li><li> <p>Update CFC staff policies and signage as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Work closely with the Exercise Science department on needs of space, equipment evaluation and budget supervision</p> </li><li> <p>Identify and report the need for major repairs in the Caroline Fitness Center to the Director of Buildings and Grounds</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics, including emergency tasks as needed</p> </li></ul> <p>Head Athletic Trainer</p> <ul> <li>Daily oversight of the MMU Athletic Training and Sports Medicine department </li><li>Lead and coordinate the care, prevention, rehabilitation and treatment of athletic injuries for student-athletes. </li><li>Schedule and provide daily coverage for all practices and home competitions, including some travel responsibilities as determined by the Director of Athletics </li><li>Serve as the point of contact with the MMU team physician and arrange for injury and illness treatment </li><li>Collect and maintain complete, accurate and detailed medical records through SportsWare or other tracking mechanisms </li><li>Supervise the athletic department's health and safety programs including, but not limited to, NAIA drug testing and AED, First Aid and CPR training </li><li>Provides leadership, supervises, manages and coordinates the schedules of student athletic trainer(s) and interns </li><li>Maintain NATA certification and Wisconsin State licensure through CEUs </li><li>Oversee the selection, purchase and maintenance of all athletic training equipment and medical supplies while working within the parameters of the department budget </li><li>Reconcile credit card statement on a monthly basis </li><li>Inventory athletic training equipment annually </li><li>Coordinate fundraising efforts when needed </li><li>Update annually and maintain Student-Athlete Handbook and the Sports Medicine Emergency Action Plan and trainings with athletic staff and student-athletes when applicable </li><li>Represent Mount Mary University Athletics at all CCAC athletic training meetings </li><li>Attend staff, admissions, athletic conference, and/or institution meetings / events when required </li><li>Knowledge of, and adherence to, MMU Athletics Department Coaches and Student-Athlete Handbooks, NAIA and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference rules / regulations regarding recruiting, eligibility, competition, compliance, etc. and ensure all staff members and student-athletes comply with the same </li><li>Assist as needed with management of home athletics events </li><li>Promote and encourage a positive learning experience for student-athletes and a commitment to develop the whole person and nurturing bold, brilliant women </li><li>Hire, train, supervise and evaluate AT staff including student athletic trainer(s) and interns, and assigned sport program coach if applicable </li><li>Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics, including emergency tasks as needed </li></ul> <p>Skills and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>3-5 years' experience within a collegiate athletic environment is preferred; at the NAIA level desired </li><li>Collegiate varsity playing experience preferred </li><li>Experience working with SportsWare or similar athletic training tracking program </li><li>Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism, with a high standard of personal conduct and integrity </li><li>Exceptional ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and extraordinary attention to detail </li><li>Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision and exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize project </li><li>Strong organizational, leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, ability to work independently, and possess a high level of confidentiality </li><li>Candidate needs to have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills - feel confident talking on a phone and creating coherent, professional correspondences (emails, letters, text messages, etc.), including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group process and foster collaborative decision making </li><li>Computer skills are required, along with the expectation to learn additional computer software programs for Athletics; such as SportsWare, PrestoSports, Front Rush, Slate, Jenzabar, etc. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required </li><li>Master's degree preferred - in field of Athletic Training desired </li><li>BOC Certification, Wisconsin licensure or eligibility, AED/CPR Certification - all required </li><li>Supervisory experience required </li><li>Applicant must pass background check and motor vehicle records authorization </li><li>To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to accomplish primary duties adequately.
