<p>Position Title IT Network Administrator Division Information Technology(DIV) Department Information Technology Job Description</p> <p>This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the College's network infrastructure, with a focus on performance, reliability, and security. The IT Network Administrator manages Layer 2/3 switching, wireless networks, and firewall systems, serving as the lead for network security. This role works closely with other IT staff to ensure secure, high-availability connectivity across all systems and services, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based environments.</p> <ul> <li>Network Infrastructure Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and optimize the performance of network infrastructure, including Layer 3 switches, routers, and wireless access points, with a focus on Cisco Meraki environments. </li><li>Network Security Administration: Serve as the lead for network security, implementing and maintaining firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and security protocols to protect institutional data and systems. </li><li>Firewall Configuration and Management: Configure, monitor, and maintain firewall rules and policies to ensure secure and efficient network traffic flow, including VPN and remote access configurations. </li><li>Wireless Network Management: Administer and troubleshoot wireless networks, ensuring optimal coverage, performance, and security across all campus locations. </li><li>Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure network systems and practices comply with regulatory standards such as GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act); assist with audits and documentation as needed. </li><li>Network Performance and Capacity Planning: Conduct regular performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure the network infrastructure meets current and future demands. </li><li>Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Respond to and resolve network-related incidents and outages; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. </li><li>Network Documentation and Procedures: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures. </li><li>Collaboration and Support: Work closely with the IT System Administrator and other IT staff to ensure seamless integration between systems and networks; provide Tier 2/3 support for network-related issues. </li><li>Vendor and Contract Management: Coordinate with vendors for network hardware, software, and services; manage support contracts and service level agreements (SLAs). </li><li>Network Hardware Lifecycle Management: Recommend and manage the lifecycle of network hardware and related components. </li><li>Training and Awareness: Provide training and guidance to staff on secure network practices and emerging threats. </li><li>Disaster Recovery and Redundancy Planning: Design and maintain network redundancy and disaster recovery strategies to ensure high availability and business continuity. </li><li>Perform all duties in accordance with College policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in a related field required </li><li>3-5 years of related IT experience is required </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree preferred </li><li>Process management experience is preferred </li><li>Experience working with Cisco Meraki network infrastructure is preferred </li><li>Related work experience in higher education is preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged sitting </li><li>Frequent standing/walking or otherwise moving around campus </li><li>Repetitive finger/hand movements </li><li>Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. </li><li>Occasional bending </li></ul> <p>Salary $58,860 Schedule Days/Hours Monday - 0800-1700, Tuesday - 0800-1700, Wednesday - 0800-1700, Thursday - 0800-1700, Friday - 0800-1700, Hybrid Schedule Available</p> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Posting Number S-2023-202-P Number of Vacancies 1 Desired Start Date Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 06/06/2025 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Please have your current resume, a cover letter, transcripts (optional) and information for three professional references to provide with your application.</p> <p>Advertising Summary</p>
