<p>HIRING PROCESS: All submitted application materials are forwarded to the appropriate department for review. Hiring recommendations are made at the departmental level. Brenau only accepts applications/resumes for advertised positions.</p> <p>PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one's personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver's license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. Principal faculty (PF) responsibilities are varied and may differ to some degree based upon the needs of the department. </li><li>Generally, the tasks of the PT PF member are focused primarily on teaching/student assessment and ongoing programmatic self-assessment. The PT PF member performs all other duties as directed by the Chair/PD, the Dean of the Ivester College of Health Sciences (ICHS), the Brenau University Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Brenau University President or designee. </li></ul> <p>Scholarship</p> <ul> <li>Remain current within their academic discipline and participate in professional academic venues. </li><li>Participate in faculty development and research within the mission of the University. </li></ul> <p>Teaching</p> <ul> <li>Serve as Instructor for didactic courses and EOR seminars, as assigned. </li><li>Prepare assigned lectures using applicable technology. </li><li>Assume assigned role in test preparation and other methods of evaluating student performance. </li><li>Participate in other teaching modalities, including but not limited to small-group clinical problem-solving and clinical skills labs. </li><li>Assess student progress in assigned courses, prepare grades, and notify Directors of Didactic or Clinical Education, and Assistant Program Director (APD) and/or Chair/PD of any "at-risk" students. </li><li>Instruct and supervise students in assigned clinical practice labs, simulation activities, and small group sessions. </li><li>Evaluate student performance in didactic and clinical courses (including written and practical exams, Clinical Problem Solving (CPS) and OSCEs) and the program summative evaluation. </li><li>Critique student assignments and provide prompt feedback. </li><li>Assist with student tutorial/remediation sessions. </li><li>Maintain student records and do appropriate follow-up on all correspondence pertaining to students and course assignments and assessments. </li><li>Keep informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction via professional development activities. </li><li>Bring to faculty meetings for discussion information on any student considered at risk, needing additional monitoring, and/or requiring additional coursework or any other form of remediation to meet program-defined learning outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Service</p> <p>The PT PF member is expected to:</p> <ul> <li>Attend and appropriately contribute to departmental faculty and staff meetings, annual retreats and accreditation-related activities. </li><li>Participate in the development, revision, and annual updating of the program's mission statement and curricular materials. </li><li>Assist in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of curriculum, as assigned. </li><li>Participate in student admissions and interviewing processes, selecting appropriate applicants for admission, as assigned. </li><li>Assist in the evaluation of clinical sites and preceptors, as assigned. </li><li>Assist in ongoing programmatic evaluation, as assigned. </li><li>Assume other duties within the program when needed and feasible. </li></ul> <p>Community Relations Within and Outside of Brenau</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a representative of the department within the Brenau community through committee service, as assigned. Attend university-sponsored events and assist in the establishment of collegial relationships with other faculty, staff and administrators. </li><li>Represent the university to the community in a professional and positive way through volunteer service, participation in community events, and professional affiliations. </li><li>Maintain a strong and visible presence in local, state, national and international professional activities. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <p>No supervisory responsibilities required.</p> <p>Work Hours & Schedule:</p> <p>Part-time. Generally, two full days and one half-day from Monday-Friday during the hours of 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.</p> <p>Campus Designation:</p> <p>This is an on-site position based at the Historic Gainesville Campus located in Gainesville, Georgia.</p> <p>Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:</p> <p>Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
