<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.</p> <p>Age, Developmental, & Cultural Needs of Clients:</p> <p>The focus of this position is on the provision of psychological services to geriatric veterans enrolled at the Richard L. Roudebush VAMC. Thus, although most of the veterans enrolled in the facility are typically between 18-80 years of age, the incumbent is expected to have specific expertise in the issues and treatment of individuals over the age of 65.</p> <p>This position requires the incumbent to possess or develop and understanding of the particular needs of these types of patients. Sensitivity to the special needs of all patients in respect to age, gender, race, ethnicity, developmental requirements and culturally-related factors must be consistently achieved.</p> <p>Clinical Responsibilities (90 % of time, including administrative time)</p> <ul> <li>Function as a member of an interdisciplinary teams of professionals: the Older Adult Clinic of the Mental Health Clinic </li><li>Provide consultative services to other clinics within the Medical Center </li><li>Ability to diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological assessments, with special emphasis on, and awareness of the mental health, social, and medical need of the geriatric population </li><li>Ability to treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders in veterans and their families. Specialized knowledge and awareness of cognitive disorders and their effects on individuals and their families is necessary. </li><li>The provision of mental health services via Telehealth technologies </li><li>Practice is under the close supervision of a licensed psychologist. </li><li>Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assist in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their geriatric patients. </li></ul> <p>ENRICHING ELEMENTS - Other Significant Responsibilities (10% time)</p> <ul> <li>Engages in a mix of enriching elements that benefit the veterans, the clinic, or the VA. The following are a list of potential activities that can make up the enriching element. </li><li>Serves on Medical Center or Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces, as assigned by the Lead Psychologist or the Chief of Psychiatry </li><li>Represents psychology on decision-making committees at the Medical Center or Healthcare System, as assigned by the Lead Psychologist or the Chief of Psychiatry </li><li>Actively participates in leadership roles on local, state and national professional organizations. </li><li>Represents the Medical Center or Healthcare System at professional/program community group/events and committees. </li><li>Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned using a data-driven quality assurance processes, including, but not limited to OAC and MHC PI, Psychology PI and outcome measures on selected groups and treatment programs run by the clinician </li><li>Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate. </li><li>Plans and oversees the completion of personal research programs, designed to provide information regarding program planning and relevant treatment approaches. Research is to be discussed with the Psychology Group, and approved by the IUPUI IRB and the VA IRB. </li><li>Presents outcome data and research results at VA and regional or national scientific or professional meetings, and/or publishes at least yearly. </li><li>Assists in preparation of RFP's and grant proposals, as assigned. </li><li>Involved in Psychology Training Program and Training Committee. </li><li>Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staffs of units to which assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>Full Time </li><li>0730-1600 or 0800-1630 </li></ul> <p>Telework: In accordance with VA Policy</p> <p>An exemption for Return to Office has been submitted for review. If approved the agency will act in accordance with the determination issued.
