Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.</p> <p>Responsibilities for this Position</p> <p>ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:</p> <p>As an Mid-Level Embedded Engineer for the Progeny Systems Business Area, youll be a member of or lead a cross functional team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems.</p> <p>Duties and Tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Design, implement, simulate, and test firmware components for FPGA-based systems </li><li>Define FPGA timing, pinout, and placement constraints; review synthesis and timing reports; and address issues </li><li>Design, implement, and unit test firmware components for microcontroller-based systems </li><li>Integrate and test firmware on target hardware </li><li>Design and simulate digital circuits </li><li>Develop test systems including test software applications </li><li>Generate system/software/interface requirements, detailed design, and build documentation </li><li>Document and present trade studies, analyses, test results and status to the team </li><li>Research, identify, and evaluate new technologies </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases </li><li>Experience writing technical documentation for embedded systems </li><li>Strong background in FPGA design in VHDL, verification and timing closure </li><li>Strong background implementing microcontroller firmware in C or C++ </li><li>Strong background in digital circuit design </li><li>Experience with Linux and embedded operating systems </li><li>Proficiency with memory technologies, voltage regulation devices, ADCs, DACs, and common low-level communication interfaces </li><li>Proficiency with common lab equipment such as o-scopes, multi-meters, power supplies, and soldering </li></ul> <p>Experience with the following a plus:</p> <ul> <li>OrCAD Capture, Quartus, LabWindows/CVI, Git </li><li>Soft-core processors (Nios and/or MicroBlaze) </li><li>ARM-based microcontrollers </li><li>National Instruments data acquisition systems </li></ul> <p>Our Commitment to You:</p> <ul> <li>An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development </li><li>Research oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nations security </li><li>Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule) </li><li>Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more </li><li>See more at gdmissionsystems.com/careers/why-work-for-us/benefits </li></ul> <p>Workplace Options:</p> <p>This position is fully on-site or 'flex' (3+ days/week in office).
