<p>Surety Bond Claims Supervisor</p> <p>Tokio Marine HCC - Surety Group, a member of the Tokio Marine Group of Companies, has an exciting opportunity for a Surety Bond Claims Supervisor position at our office in Los Angeles, California.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Investigates, analyzes, negotiates, and settles complex bond claims. Position may specialize by claim area including contract, court, or commercial bonds. Oversees work of Claims Assistants and/or Examiners and has direct reports.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Relying on broad experience and judgment, the Bond Claims Supervisor is accountable for accomplishing the following responsibilities and has substantial latitude for actions or decisions made with minimal review.</p> <ul> <li>Determine the validity of complex bond claims by performing research in such areas as business, professional, civil, probate, and insurance codes; May review legal pleadings pertaining to claims. </li><li>Contact and respond to inquiries from claimants, principals, attorneys, and other clients concerning bond claims; Maintain professional demeanor and discretion with clients. </li><li>Document claims review in departmental systems as guided by company policy and procedure to ensure that all regulatory deadlines are met. </li><li>Prepare and draft complex legal correspondence to affected parties using mail, fax, or other electronic means. </li><li>Approve or deny majority of claims but must seek approval or denial for claims outside defined limit. </li><li>May attend court hearings including mediations, settlement conferences, and trials. </li><li>Respond directly to claimants and their representatives. </li><li>May research, analyze, and provide recommendations on changing laws and the impact on new claims matters. </li><li>May approve check requests for claims payments and consultant/attorney fees. </li><li>May evaluate and determine release of collateral when claim process has been completed. </li><li>May work to collect lost fees or costs incurred because of a claim. </li><li>Maintain claim files - both physical and electronic. </li><li>Train incoming claims staff and supervise the investigation, analysis, negotiation, and settlement of bond claims for direct reports. </li><li>Conducts file audits for Claims Examiners. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li></li><li>Develop work plans, establish timelines, and set goals for assigned work unit. </li><li>Assign resources as needed. </li><li>Meet commitments on deadlines. </li><li></li><li>Communicate team or group results to management and make appropriate recommendations. </li><li>Prepare written and verbal presentations to convey information. </li></ul> <p>Cost Management</p> <ul> <li>Drive improvement in existing business processes and assist in the identification and implementation of new processes. </li><li>Assist in development and is accountable for budget for work unit. </li><li>Work within financial objectives set by management. </li></ul> <p>Business Controls and Policies</p> <ul> <li>Comply with all corporate policies and procedures. </li><li>Identify control objectives for designated function and implement cost effective controls designed to meet those objectives. </li><li>Test controls to determine if they are performing as intended. </li></ul> <p>People Management</p> <ul> <li>Has full HR responsibility for direct reports including making hiring decisions, training, coordinating work, establishing standards, reviewing work, conducting performance appraisals and providing coaching or counseling. </li></ul> <p>What we offer: Just as Tokio Marine HCC Group of Companies is customer-centric, we are also employee centric offering our employees a competitive salary and employee benefit package, strong learning culture, collaboration, 401K match, paid parental leave, and an opportunity to love what you do.</p> <p>For candidates working in person in Los Angeles, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is $97,900 to $134,500 per year. The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, nondiscriminatory factors set by the Company.
