Qualified candidates will have successful experience supporting adult professional learning and providing individualized coaching support to staff. They will also have extensive successful literacy teaching experience with an inquiry-based, student-centered approach to instruction. The Instructional Literacy Coach will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to be innovative when designing and implementing systems to support staff development and student growth.</p> <p>Ideal Qualifications of a Candidate:</p> <ul> <li>Committed to creating a student-centered, technology-infused learning experience </li><li>Ability to work productively and collaboratively with the faculty, students, and parents </li><li>Familiar with the NYS Next Generation ELA Standards </li><li>Experience teaching literacy in an elementary school </li><li>Exudes a joy of learning and an ability to work with students of all skill and ability levels </li></ul> <p>QUALITIES/RESPONSIBILITES:</p> <ul> <li>Possess expertise in literacy instructional practices and deep knowledge of literacy standards and concepts. </li><li>Experience with utilizing effective coaching principles and practices. </li><li>Create structured coaching cycles to support specific grades, teams, and teachers. </li><li>Ability to support teachers through modeling and co-teaching using progressive and innovative instructional methods in K-5 classrooms. </li><li>Work directly with teachers on lesson design and implementation of research-based instructional practices through coaching. </li><li>Develop and implement professional learning experiences around best practices in literacy instruction to build teacher capacity. </li><li>Co-plan and facilitate team meetings and faculty meetings. </li><li>Strong data analysis skills to support teachers in analyzing data and using assessment information to plan for differentiated daily instruction (ex. MAPS, State exams, program embedded data points.) </li><li>Work with building leadership and teacher teams to engage in strategic planning, including establishing goals and developing action plans. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Salary based on BTA CBA with an additional .1 stipend for professional development opportunities after school and/or during the summer (as needed and directed). </li></ul> <p>Briarcliff Manor is a community of about 8,000 residents, located in Westchester County and serves 1349 students.
