<p>The Fire Science Adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching classes as assigned by the Dean. Must meet Faculty Minimum Hiring Standards and adhere to college policies and procedures.</p> <p>Must evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses in accordance with College and division policies and procedures.</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or graduate degree in Paramedic and/or Fire Science or related field </li><li>At least 18 undergraduate credit hours in Paramedic and/or Fire Science or related field </li><li>Associate degree in Paramedic and/or Fire Science if considered terminal and 3000hours of recent and relevant work experience </li><li>Special training and 6000 hours of relevant tested work experience. </li><li>Ability to pass a background check, have a valid driver's license and good driving record. </li></ul> <p>Preferred: </p> <ul> <li>Teaching experience </li><li>Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly. </li><li>Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, crouching, and climbing.  </li><li>The position may require some mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis and up to 80 pounds on occasion. </li><li>Some roles require spending 90% of the time on feet.  </li><li>Lifting and carrying objects (up to 80 lbs), pulling objects (up to 135 lbs), and working with objects in front of the body (up to 125 lbs). </li><li>Adjunct faculty in firefighting programs may assist in the set-up and cleanup of lab equipment and supplies, and in the movement of materials for outdoor lab exercises.  </li><li>Verbal and written communication skills are essential for instruction and interaction with students, faculty, and the community. </li></ul>
