<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Under the direct supervision of the Director of Dentistry,</p> <ul> <li>Employee will be dually supervised by the dentist at their assigned institution. </li><li>Employee will assist with providing dental care to patients in their assigned clinic and statewide, as needed. </li><li>Prepares patients for treatment and provides chairside assistance for all dental procedures. </li><li>Operates dental equipment as necessary for the care and treatment of patients. </li><li>Exposes, develops, and mounts/files dental x-rays. </li><li>Also prepares and maintains dental x-ray developing solutions. </li><li>Maintains dental equipment by cleaning and lubricating dental hand pieces, suction lines, etc. </li><li>Also cleans working areas and sterilizes instruments and equipment. </li><li>Prepares and mixes various filling and impression materials. </li><li>Performs clinical laboratory procedures. </li><li>Performs prophylaxis and oral hygiene instruction as needed. </li><li>Schedules dental appointments. </li><li>Maintains dental patient records. </li><li>Maintains the inventory of the clinic's dental supplies. </li><li>Request additional supplies as needed. </li><li>Keeps statistical reports on clinical activities and performs administrative/clerical duties as necessary. </li><li>Assists with providing dental care to other dental clinics, statewide, as instructed/needed. </li></ul> <p>Resume preferred but not required.</p> <p>Questions regarding the application process, this job posting or any other postings with the SCDC should be directed to:</p> <p>Recruiting and Employment Services</p> <p>(803) 896-1649</p> <p>Employment@doc.sc.gov</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>An associate degree in Dental Assistance or one year of formal training in a dental assistance course accredited by the American Dental Association.</p> <p>SCDC Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>An associate degree in dental assistance</p> <p>OR</p> <p>A high school diploma and one (1) year of formal training in an ADA accredited assistant's course and one (1) year of dental assistant experience with certification in dental x-ray</p> <p>OR</p> <p>A high school diploma, DANB's Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification, and two years' work experience as a dental assistant with certification in dental x-ray.</p> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>The South Carolina Department of Corrections is committed to providing equal opportunities to all applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.</p> <p>Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
