<p>THE POSITION</p> <p>The City of Carson's Parks and Recreation Division is seeking a passionate and experienced Recreation Specialist - Art Instructor to support our Enrichment Program.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts with experience teaching or assisting in structured art programs. They should be comfortable working with diverse age groups and able to instruct across a range including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and sewing. A bachelor's degree in Art, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field is highly desirable. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and passionate about using the arts to engage and inspire the community.</p> <ul> <li>Job posting is open continuous until filled* </li></ul> <p>Position Information:</p> <ul> <li>This is a part-time position (FLSA: non-exempt), limited to 960 hours per fiscal year. </li><li>Typical work schedule will vary; Weekday hours vary between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM and Saturday hours vary between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM </li></ul> <p>Age: Must be 18 years old and older</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Under general supervision, conduct special interest classes at various recreation centers; this position will also assist the reservations section by inputting and maintaining classes, activities, registration and managing the department's social media pages; and to perform related duties as required.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</p> <p>(These functions are representative and may not be present in all positions in the class. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind related duties and work assignments.)</p> <ul> <li>Plans, organizes and instructs special interest classes or programs. </li><li>Develops and schedules classes for various age groups. </li><li>Prepares reports on the status of the special interest class or program as needed. </li><li>May be assigned duties as a sports official on an urgency basis. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>A typical way to obtain the requisite qualifications to perform the duties of this class is as follows:</p> <p>Education and/or Experience:</p> <p>Completion of formal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance and demonstrable proficiency in an appropriate area.</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Special interest area of instruction; correct English usage. </li></ul> <p>Skill and Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Effectively communicate orally and in writing. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and deal tactfully with the public. </li></ul> <p>RECRUITMENT PROCESS</p> <p>Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant training and experience.
