Posting Number 20166731S Job Description</p> <p>This position's research activities will be related to the design and optical characterization of nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond for use as a single photon emitter/quantum source. Collaborations with experts in relevant fields are in place for the successful implementation of this research. Specific activities will be tailored to the expertise of the selected candidate and the requirements of the client.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Optically characterizing nitrogen vacancies in diamond using photoluminescence spectroscopy, second-order correlation measurements, and Hong-Ou-Mandel measurements to determine their viability as single photon sources.</p> </li><li> <p>Designing and implementing a cold box for cooling the diamond source to cryogenic temperatures.</p> </li><li> <p>Designing and implementing a laser-excitation source for stimulating single photon emission from the diamond source.</p> </li><li> <p>Presenting results in reports, conferences, and meetings with project partners.</p> </li></ol> <p>About the Physics and Astronomy Department at OHIO</p> <p>Located in Athens, Ohio, the astrophysics group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy includes experts in gravitational lensing, galaxy clusters, and nuclear astrophysics (https://www.ohio.edu/cas/physastro/).</p> <p>About Ohio University</p> <p>Established in 1804, Ohio University is the oldest public university in the state of Ohio.
