<p>Element Science, Inc. is a medical device and digital health company focused on developing solutions at the intersection of clinical-grade wearables, machine learning algorithms, and lifesaving therapies in order to address leading causes of death and hospitalization in patients with heart disease, primarily as they transition from the hospital-to-home. Headquartered in San Francisco, our funders include Third Rock Ventures, Google Ventures, Deerfield Healthcare, Qiming Venture Partners USA, Cormorant Asset Management, and Invus Opportunities.</p> <p>SUMMARY OF ROLE:</p> <p>Element Science is seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Buyer to join our growing Operations Team. In this critical role, you will drive the sourcing and procurement of high-quality materials and components that support the production of our innovative medical devices. You'll be responsible for identifying purchasing needs, researching and qualifying suppliers, and negotiating optimal pricing, quantities, and lead times to ensure efficient and reliable supply chain performance.</p> <p>The ideal candidate brings deep experience in medical device procurement, along with a proven ability to build strong internal and external partnerships. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills will be key to managing a diverse supplier base and contributing to Element Science's mission to bring life-saving technology to patients in need.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Aligns production supplier requirements and sourcing strategies with product development to ensure continuous material availability, while supporting risk mitigation and cost optimization goals. </li><li>Analyzes MRP/ERP data to manage end-to-end procurement and production planning activities for assigned materials. </li><li>Solicits competitive bids and negotiates pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with external vendors and internal stakeholders to support timely production builds. </li><li>Expedites past-due inbound shipments and internal deliverables to maintain production schedules. </li><li>Monitors and evaluates material shortages, proposing corrective actions to prevent production delays. </li><li>Manages raw material purchasing as part of broader procurement responsibilities. </li><li>Participates in cross-functional meetings and maintains accurate and timely reporting of procurement activities and priorities. </li><li>Tracks and analyzes purchasing performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. </li><li>Sources and assesses new suppliers to support quality, cost, and delivery objectives. </li><li>Reviews and communicates material demand forecasts, facilitating capacity planning and alignment with suppliers. </li><li>Manages supplier communications regarding forecast changes, delivery adjustments, and non-standard requests to ensure supply continuity. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>BA/BS degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. </li><li>5+ years of purchasing experience within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device industry experience strongly preferred). </li><li>Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. </li><li>Highly organized, with a proven track record of keeping cross-functional teams and Sales aligned on project timelines and deliverables. </li><li>Driven by intellectual curiosity, with a passion for continuous learning and professional growth. </li><li>Exceptional interpersonal skills, combining a strong yet adaptable personality with the ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships. </li><li>Outstanding communication skills, including oral, written, and presentation abilities. </li><li>Resilient and resourceful, comfortable stepping beyond comfort zones and taking ownership of challenging, complex problems. </li><li>Experienced with ERP/MRP systems (such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle), with the ability to analyze data and support production planning and procurement operations. </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <p>Element Science offers a very competitive salary and benefits package including, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Stock Options </li><li>90% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance </li><li>Company-paid Basic Life Insurance </li><li>401(k) retirement plan (Traditional and Roth) </li><li>Competitive Paid Time Off </li><li>Paid Holidays </li><li>FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) </li><li>HSA (Health Savings Account) </li><li>Employee Assistance Program through PEO </li></ul> <p>The salary for this exempt-level position will be based on experience and qualifications within an established pay range.</p> <ul> <li>Pay range: $115,000 - $125,000 </li></ul> <p>Element Science is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
