<p>Thermal-Mechanical Test Engineer</p> <p>Advantest is the world's largest provider of Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) to the semiconductor industry. For seven decades, Advantest has led the way in developing new and innovative test and handling solutions for the global electronics industry. Advantest Test Solutions, Inc (ATS) is a subsidiary of Advantest America located in Lake Forest, CA and is a leading provider of massively parallel electronic test systems that includes System Level Test (SLT), burn-in and semiconductor/module tests. ATS has an exciting line of high-performance test systems that support the semiconductor industry around the world.</p> <p>ATS is looking for a Thermal-Mechanical Test Engineer to join our team in Lake Forest, CA. This is a unique opportunity for a talented engineer with a diverse skill set to work within several engineering disciplines. This individual will perform a wide range of complex thermal /mechanical engineering functions related to testing and evaluation of thermal systems for testing electronic systems including semiconductors, photonics, and embedded devices. Conducts testing on new and modified designs and develops engineering prototypes. This individual will also be called upon to resolve any field issues and work together with the field team.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>In collaboration with the product design team, develop test specifications and parameters. </li><li>Perform Thermal and mechanical analysis of complex thermo-mechanical systems. </li><li>Write test plans and create test cases for the products /components. </li><li>Perform Thermal and Mechanical Tests in laboratory environment and onsite at customer facilities. </li><li>Troubleshoot any errors and streamline the testing procedures. </li><li>Interpret functional test results, create reports of test setups, data collection and interpretation and present findings to senior technical staff as well as during internal and customer design reviews. </li><li>Perform integration testing and qualifications. </li><li>Work as part of a cross-functional team that includes procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance and technical support to establish specifications for components and participate in vendor/supplier selection. </li><li>Provide hands on support during product installation and commissioning at customer sites. Provide guidance to field service engineers. </li><li>Identify risk areas, mitigations, and optimization opportunities. </li><li>Recommend and design innovations and improved methods, tools, and processes. </li><li>Act as customer contact on selective technical matters. </li><li>Perform hands-on evaluation of prototype system build/sub-assembly build /thorough product performance assessment. </li><li>All other duties and tasks that may be required. </li></ul> <p>Requirements, Education & Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Requires a BS in Mechanical/Thermal/Physics. Master's degree is a plus. </li><li>Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience, preferably in a high-technology environment. </li><li>Previous work experience as a thermal design engineer or test engineer or product support engineer is a plus. </li><li>Good problem-solving skills. </li><li>Expertise with conduction and convection based Thermal systems. </li><li>Experience in chiller and heat exchangers is a plus. </li><li>Experience in electronic packaging, testing, and integrating thermal systems into automated handling is also preferred. </li><li>Experience working in cross-functional teams that build complex electro-mechanical systems comprised of motion control hardware, electrical and software components is a plus. </li><li>Expertise with burn in ovens and active thermal control solutions for automotive grade or military grade devices is a plus. </li><li>Experience in working with heaters, Peltiers, heatsinks, sockets, two phase cooling, cryogenics, system design for condensation abatement, airflow uniformity are desired. </li><li>3D design experience and knowledge of SolidWorks is a strong plus. </li><li>Ability to travel to customer sites (domestically & internationally) as required - approximately 20%. </li><li>Must have strong analysis & synthesis capabilities. </li><li>This is an on-site role at our Lake Forest, CA site. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills Preferred (but not required):</p> <ul> <li>Experience with utilizing thermal modeling and analysis tools (e.g., Solidworks Flow, Ansys Icepak, etc.) </li><li>Experience with the design, certification and deployment of semiconductor capital equipment is desired. </li></ul>
