<p>The Jao Lab in the Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University seeks a full-time Research Technician to work closely with the principal investigator on research projects concerning macromolecular assembly and vertebrate development. The lab focuses on centrosome biology using cultured cells and zebrafish as model systems to understand how the centrosome assembles and how its dysfunction leads to human diseases. Current students who are expected to graduate in May 2025 and are seeking research experience after graduation are especially encouraged to apply.</p> <p>This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon grant funding availability.</p> <p>This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>A BS or BA degree is required before starting the position. </li><li>Experience with molecular biology, cell culturing, and animal models is preferred, but is not required. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>A strong undergraduate background in science and previous research experience in a research lab setting are required. </li><li>Most importantly, the job requires a highly motivated, organized, and focused individual who takes initiatives and is eager to learn. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Plan, execute, and analyze experiments. </li><li>Maintain zebrafish lines and inventories. </li><li>Manage lab inventories; place and receive orders. </li><li>Keep the lab in good order and complied with regulations. </li><li>Supervise undergraduate research assistants. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
