This position will ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, IHC's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. The PT is responsible for adhering to state and federal regulations in the performance of pharmacy-related data entry and patient registration activities. This position is responsible for the resolution of third-party rejections and responding to high-volume customer inquiries, working under direct supervision. This position follows standard operating procedures and performs duties in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. The PT is also responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Processes new patient registration by entering data into the pharmacy software system. </li><li>Handles patient prescription requests within HIPAA guidelines and enters refill orders for processing. </li><li>Troubleshoots to obtain missing prescription information, and interprets medical abbreviations (SIG codes). </li><li>Resolves all data entry-related exceptions. </li><li>Transitions inventory through different workflow stages with a focus on quality control. </li><li>Counts and fills prescriptions. </li><li>Cleans and helps maintain the pharmacy and keeps the work area orderly. </li><li>Resolves Third Party Rejects by reviewing, gathering information, making corrections and resubmitting for processing according to individual plan requirements. </li><li>Provides assistance to Pharmacists by identifying and communicating issues as appropriate. </li><li>Performs duties and responsibilities according to the philosophy and standards of the organization, including conveying courtesy, respect, enthusiasm and positive attitudes in work situations with clients, peers and visitors. </li><li>Maintains client and associate confidentiality. </li><li>Responsible for understanding all the applicable policies and procedures of the department necessary to perform essential job functions as well as the employee handbook. </li><li>The position may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description as directed by the Pharmacy Manager. </li><li>Adheres to the organization's prescription data entry procedures and guidelines. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li><li>Ensures pharmacy services are in line with state and federal requirements. </li></ul> <p>Required skills and experience:</p> <ul> <li>High degree of interpersonal and organizational skills. </li><li>Proficiency with written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Experience in an FQHC or safety-net healthcare environment. </li><li>Experience with the 340b program. </li><li>Experience integrating pharmacy services into primary care. </li><li>Pharmacy experience in a retail setting, including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software, and technology systems and insurance. </li><li>Experience performing prescription dispensing. </li><li>Strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Active Pharmacy Technician License. </li><li>Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB) preferred. </li><li>1 year of experience in retail pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician preferred. </li></ul> <p>Technology</p> <ul> <li>Basic level PC skills. </li><li>Proficiency with pharmacy management software such as Liberty Software. </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employment Statement</p> <p>We are an equal opportunity employer.
